Need Help With Bangs.

I have really fine, thin hair. I try to do side-swept bangs but they have a strong tendency to clump together in locks so that I look more like I have these stripes across my forehead. I've tried some light teasing and that doesn't work. Would a flat iron help with this?

I think flat ironing them along with some setting spray to keep them in place.
