Did you ever try purple shampoo?

Yes it works great but only stays for a couple days and washes out.

Well, when you get it done professionally they will usually apply a toner. Of course box dye doesn't come with these. But even getting hair done professionally for most people it is recommended to use purple shampoo and conditioner for home care to keep the hair from turning brassy, even though it has been toned. Everyone's hair is different right.. some pull gold and that's just the way it is!

Wella color charm toner works really well. I used t18 and it took out a lot of yellowness from my hair.

Hi Diane,

If you think about the color wheel, purple is the opposite from yellow so often times a purple or violet based shampoo will work best. Loreal makes a great one called Shimmer Lights. Just make sure to use it only a few times a week so your hair doesn't get a purple hue when it deposits color.

I hope that helps!

Be careful using purple or blue toner on bleached hair sometimes it won't come out and leave a tint or hue of the shade. Wait...what do you lighten it with? Anyway you need to use a color with a purple, violet, or blue base. Let me know what you use and I can help you more.
