A lot of people think all facial oils are essential oils, but that’s not really true. Using things like vetiver and lemon for instance won’t do anything but irritate your skin.
If you have genuine concerns and indented acne scars you should see a professional. There’s only so much even good skincare can do.

I completely agree with Leuca! Some of my friends do use essential oils added to a carrier oil for their skincare regimen. So, you have to first determine which carrier oil would work best for you (e.g. jojoba, argan, rosehip). Some of the more popular EOs they use include frankincense and elemi. Please, please, please make sure you use quality/safe EOs and dilute accordingly! You may wish to join a "natural living" or essential oil group for more detailed assistance!

I had some pretty bad pcos acne and it's starting to clear up now that I've gotten back into a good routine. When my acne was at it's worst, I said "whatever" and slept with my makeup on every night. I figured it wasn't even worth trying anymore. The key for me was to give every product a chance to help my skin rather than giving up after a couple days. From there, I chose what seemed to work, and simplified my routine to exclude literally anything that irritated it my skin. Rose hip, jojoba, tea tree and almond oil are what's left after all of that.
I can attest to both rose hip and jojoba oil by themselves, as well as almond oil. If you're looking to start out and add essentials in later once you're comfortable, I would definitely grab a few of those and see what you get into naturally from there.
I use tea tree cleanser from trader joe's, then rose hip oil on my face for about 15 minutes, wash it off, and then put just a dab on my undereyes in place of a serum overnight. If I leave my entire skin soaking in rose hip oil I get acne like crazy. I try to use it in targeted dry areas exclusively now, but I also think it depends on the brand- I use the ordinary cold pressed now, but the mario badescu gave me no problems.
After that, I use a bit of jojoba oil mixed with some trader joe's anti oxidant moisturizer. My very dull, acne riddled skin has perked up a lot from this routine.
On an unrelated but perhaps helpful note, I also like to blend up kiwis, rasperries, honey, almonds, aloe, and whatever else I have laying around into an all in one face slurry. I pour the mix into a mini ice cube mold, freeze it all, then grab a single cube at a time before a bath and use it as a mask. It's super refreshing when I feel bad about my skin and gives me a noticeable glowy boost for the next couple of days!
