Hey guys,
So about a month ago I got my daith pierced. I've been cleaning it as suggested and although it's still pretty sore, I thought I was in the clear as far as healing. But unfortunately I've gotten one of those dreaded little keloids right on the opening of the piercing. It's just a little light pinkish bump. This is my first time ever having one and I have no idea what to do for it. Do I need to see my piercer or am I able to take care of it myself? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Did your piercer use a gun? To get rid of the keloid you can do salt or chamomile soaks and be persistent because its going to take a wjile to go away and yes definitely make sure you consult a professional piercer.

And also you want to buy some medical tape and compress the keloid daily with fresh tape!

See your piercer, just to see what they recommend. Good luck!

Those are the worstttt 😭 I used to get them every single time I pierced my nose (5 times total) lol.
Sea salt soaks!
I was told it usually happens when it gets snagged/bumped against something or from over cleaning it.
It's supposed to go away in a few weeks if taken care of.
Good luck!

Thank you Victoria! How do you do your soak?

Add 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to one cup of boiling water. Stir until the salt is completely dissolved.
When the salt water has cooled slightly (you want it to be as hot as possible without burning your skin), dip a clean cotton pad into the cup.
Hold the soaked cotton pad against the bump for two minutes. You can leave your jewelry in your ear (or nose) as you do this, but avoid pulling or pushing it around.
Repeat the salt soak twice a day until the bump has disappeared

Thank you Beauty! I'm going to do it right now. Should I stop moving the jewelry until it goes away?

So beauty is correct except you don't want to use cotton pads, the cotton tears apart easily and can irritate the piercing more.
You want to soak it in a shot glass full of saline or use a syringe if you can't get the shot glass comfortably around it.
You also should never move or rotate the piercing, it actually prolongs healing and can cause a bunch of issues. You don't want to touch it without clean fingers or at all if able. You also don't want it hot or anything more than lukewarm as it's fresh skin and is a wound, so lukewarm is what you want.
A quick way to make saline is to get a bottle of distilled water, let it reach room temperature if it was refrigerated, and add your sea salt and shake it. You can use this for up to 2 weeks before it's gone bad. Make sure you also rinse in the shower by just letting warm (not hot!) water run down it, not directly under the stream but just so it drips down around the piercing.
And most importantly, no matter how irritated it gets, do not take it out until it's fully healed! Especially if there's an infection as it'll cause your body to trap the infection in the wound and grow around it, causing a whooole bunch of issues.

No problem! It's a common mistake and unfortunately it's something that everyone wants to do lol.
