I need a moisturizer. I'm 24 and I haven't found my holy grail yet 😩ðŸ˜
My skin is combo - oily in the middle and drier on the outside, normally clear, but with an uncharacteristic acne patch on my chin I've been trying to kick for 2 months now -____- I've been using Cereve PM, but I'm starting to think it's a factor in my break out.
Should I try the Cereve AM? Or Cetaphil? I see a lot of you on here love that stuff too lol. I'm also considering vitamin c serum, but I have sensitive skin so I'm not sure I'd last through the initiation I've heard comes with it haha. I need something that is closest to "lotion" as possible - soaks in well, no stickiness or residue, and I don't have to wash it off at the end of the day.
I'm asking to see if anyone with my skin type has had any luck with a certain product (drugstore, online, or organic) because honestly I can't afford to buy things by trial and error, but I'm trying to take better care of my skin. Thanks for any input beauties! 💛

I have combo to dry skin and I've been blessed with pretty clear skin. I found when I used a cream moisturizer, it caused mini breakouts in my t-zone where I get oily. I've recently been experimenting with gel moisturizers that have a higher water content. I just finished a travel size Drink of H2O from Tarte and I loved it enough to purchase the regular size ($40 online). I would recommend this product -- and definitely purchase the travel size so you're not out $$$ if it doesn't work!

Thank you for replying ladies!
Lara, why do you say it's not good for under makeup?

I have IDENTICAL skin to yours, right down to it being sensitive. Thank God it's not just me! I absolutely love cold pressed unrefined rosehip oil all over my face and I then use pure organic shea butter on the drier areas of my face, on top of the Rosehip oil. Neither are expensive and you can buy them from healthfood stores, I got mine on Amazon. Both of mine are the Naissance brand, but many sell it. Just make sure the Rosehip oil is of a yellow tone. Shea butter generally comes in a block that looks a little like a block of cheese and it'll be solid, but I use a surgical metal spatula to get it out (although I've found that the larger end of tweezers works just as well) and warm on the back of my hand, then apply to face.
My skin has really cleared up using these and my areas of dry, flakiness are much smoother. Don't think I'll change from that combo! I love it :)

Ah! Happy squeal! Lmfao that's amazing our skin is so similar, Hannah. The only thing is that I thought that Shea butter would be too heavy for the face? It doesn't clog your pores or break you out??

Because applying makeup on top is impossible lol... it balls up. but on its own, its amazing.

Have you tried any of the gel-type moisturizers? Since your skin is on the oily/combo side, you may benefit from the light gels. One of my favorites is the Dr. Jart Water Drop. If you go to Sephora, they may still have the deluxe samples available for your Insider points. Also, the new Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream is very good and works with all skin types. I personally like a lot of the First Aid Beauty products, but some of them may be too much for oily skin (although they say they're ok for all skin types). They make a lotion moisturizer (Ultra Repair Lotion) that is much lighter than their cream, and I use that on days that I don't need a heavier moisture.

Adding moisturizer to skin without a good way to regulate your skin's desquamation process can result in breakouts while using products that might otherwise work for your skin.
Are you currently using a chemical exfoliant?

Also would like to add that "having to wash it off at the end of the day" is a moot point; you should always be washing the day off of your face if you want it to be in its best condition.

I have combo skin and I LOVE first aid beauty's daily face cream, it absorbs great and leaves my skin feeling fresh. It's the only moisturizer I've used for a couple years now, it's the only thing that doesn't break me out or leave me feeling oily. It's pricier but it's worth it for me

Shea butter doesn't clog pores at all, it has a comodegenic rating of 0, which is the lowest it can be. I've been using shea butter for a few months and it's never broken me out or clogged pores, I really like it. It's doesn't feel heavy on my skin at all.

The use of shea butter on the face is still highly debated among dermatologists. The info and studies on this is highly conflicting with some people saying that it doesn't contribute to acne and some saying that it can cause more issues for acne-prone people. If you go that route, just find a product designed for the face and not pure shea butter.
