looking to dye my hair a shade darker then put pink highlights...thoughts? brands?

Try a beauty supply store if your going to go with the pink highlights. You need to bleach your hair first and strip all natural color to get the pink to show and stay. I won't trust a drug store with hair dye anymore lol.

Ion bleach powder and developer work good for bleaching and then for the pink go with manic panic cup cake pink. As for a darker shade for the rest ask one of the people who work there. They can take a look at your hair and direct you to a good color you might like.

Splat from what I heard is pretty good. But the best I've used was a brand called Raw, and you can get it at Hot topic. Its a little pricey, but TOTALLY worth it. It smells good too, I think the pink smells like bubble gum? I forget. But just a tip, do NOT put conditioner on your hair after washing the bleach out. Because it'll make the pink fade faster. Also, when you put the pink in foils put your flat iron on a low temp and burn it in (you're not burning your hair actually). Cause what that does is the heat opens the cuticles of your hair (just like when you wash your face in warn water it opens your pores, and yes you have cuticles in your hair) and it helps the color stay longer. Leave the pink on as long as possible a d rinse with COOL water. Good luck. <3

Don't get splat! My friend has natural medium blonde hair and she gave herself pink highlights with the dye almost 4 or 5 months back and it still hasn't came out and she has dyed it dark blonde and brown to remove the color and even did all the steps to remove dye from your hair and it still hasn't faded and her hairs dark brown now :/ and don't do hot topic colored hair dye. Get it professionally done.
