I'm putting this in skincare because those are the products that mainly contain microbeads - but starting July 2017 the USA will ban soaps, toothpastes and body washes containing microbeads because they have been scientifically proven to be an environmental hazard (see article here:
http://www.sciencealert.com/the-us-is-set-to-ban-soaps-and-body-washes-containing-harmful-microbeads)
So I wanted to get the community's thoughts about this - I personally think it's great that the US is finally making more conscientious decisions to improve the environment - and honestly I never liked using those kinds of products anyways because I find them way too abrasive for my face to begin with
So what are your thoughts? Are there any products you will be missing? Are you going to stock up on your faves before the ban or will you be getting rid of those products in support of the ban? I'd love to hear your opinions :)

This has been in the works for awhile and I'm so glad to see it come to fruition. I know one fave scrub of mine made the change 2 years ago so I'm good in that regard. For those who still have these products in possession of your city happens to have a recycling program for meds and questionable items you can drop off these items at such events. But I just wouldn't toss them in with regular trash.

Yesssss I am so excited to hear this! It's been a long time coming! I'm sure there will be disappointed people, but there are so many alternatives to microbeads, hopefully the brands that use them are looking into replacements rather than discontinuation.

Since I first learned about it two years ago I've been seeing brands transition into enzyme acid ingredients or reaching for natural alternatives such as diatomaceous earth. As soon as the industry got wind of what was in the works many just went to work on finding replacements. I can't find anything on Sephora containing microbeads.

Anyone have a good alternative that will prep my skin for my spray tan well? I've become dependant on the Jergens pre tan scrub:( Sugar kind of works but it leaves me dry and that leads to crusty elbows and knees especially.

I use a loofah before I apply my self-tanner. I actually picked up a new one from ULTA today. It's a hand mitt and I think I only paid $4.99 for it.

No problem beauties glad I could help get the info out there and glad we could help each other find safer alternatives to microbeads and also love the support we should all do more to help save our deteriorating environment :)
