Always wash hands before touching fresh piercings! You wash new piercing with non parfume anti-bacterial soap while in shower. (Dial, is what I always use) Then apply some saline antiseptic solution and rotate the jewelry to remove any buildup or residue. It takes the naval forever to heal, 12-18 months. Be careful while sleeping and try to not wear too tight clothing for the first little bit. Avoid first aid products like Neosporin, Bactine, peroxide, alcohol, ear piercing solution or any other ointments. These products will affect good naval piercing healing. Do not go to any of those girly stores that do body piercing with a gun- this is just BAD! Go to a clean professional body piercing studio where they use hallow needles. I hope this helped. Let me know how it goes. Good luck! You'll be fine. :)

The piercer will give you all the cleaning info. There's not too much that can go wrong if you follow the instructions given.

I've had mine for about 13 years. It's never given me problems. You have to turn the jewelry a lot when it's heeling.

Piercings can get infected for a multitude of reasons even if you clean them properly. You shouldn't wear tight clothing again till the piercing is healed which can take a few months depending on how well your body can heal. And sea salt solutions are really good and you should clean with the solution
