Suggestions on preventing the burn? And since I didn't prevent it...how to be rid of the burn quickly (if that's even possible)
Yes, I use sunblock..yes I reapply...yes I still burn. The consequence of tops and doors off a jeep during summertime.

I had severe sunburn (probably sun poisoning last year) and I took vitamin E pills and it really helped. Also you can break the pill capsule and rub the oil on the burn. It helps promote the skin to heal quicker.
You can also use vinegar, milk, and coconut oil. All work great too.

Mary Kay sells an amazing after burn cooling gel... I live in Florida so every time I get a burn I use it. It comes in a blue bottle and it makes a burn cool off and it feel soooooo good. Definitely recommended

Vinegar takes the pain away almost immediately. it also makes it tan. I'm very fair and I had a severe sunburn. the vinegar worked great. http://sunburntreatmenthq.com/5-effective-vinegar-sunburn-treatment-steps/

So as people said aloe Vera is really good. I'm extremely pale and when I do get burned, which happens periodically, I just apply aloe literally like every 30 minutes to an hour for the first 24 hours then once a day for a week or two after. By doing this I sometimes even develop a tan! Make sure you are using something with a high percentage of aloe Vera too, the one I have right now is 99%.
As for preventing the best tactic I've ever used is starting out a beach day by covering my whole body in lotion sunscreen before I get dressed. Then reapplying every hour that I'm in the sun with a spray version and a lotion for the face. My favorite brand is neutrogena. Of course the actual best technique is to avoid as much sun exposure as possible so when I go for a beach vacation I try to plan out one day for every 5 or so where I do mostly indoor activities. I know this is all a hassle, I hate it a lot and I still often fail, but it is important. I wish I were one of those people who didn't look at the sun and burn, but sadly I am :)

Haha sorry for the super long message. I guess I'm very passionate about avoiding peeling sunburns 😂
