Hey guys! I recently invested in a nice skincare set. I'm trying to take better care of my skin since its going to be stuck with me for the rest of my life and I know its super important but I've always neglected it. Anyways the set has a face wash, mask, day and night creams, and toner. I've seen toner before but have never really used it since I was never positive what it did. I was just wondering if someone could explain what toner is and the benefits that come from using it? :)

I could be wrong but I've always known toner to be a product that removes the dirt and "bad" oils from your face. I use it after cleanser but before moisturiser.

I've used it to help rid of some acne scars, deflate acne, and to even out my complexion. It does dry your skin up a but so use a lotion for dry-normal skin afterwards. :)

Some toners have specific uses like hydrating, oil control, or exfoliating but not all toners have extra uses. All toners help rebalance the skin's pH level, which can be thrown off by face wash or even water. It'll also get out any extra face wash or dirt/makeup that was missed. That's my understanding, at least.
