Hey!

I was thinking that it would be super interesting to hear about our favorite lip products, such as balms, oils, glosses and lipsticks.

What makes a good lip product?
What finishes and colors do you prefer on yourself? Maybe swatches?
How do you apply your lip product?
Any underrated lip products?

I'm a lipstick junkie, I have too many, lol, but I love lipsticks. I go for mate finishes or liquid lipsticks because of the longevity of them, I hate having to touch up. I always apply my products straight from the tube or with the applicator it comes with.

Some of my favorites:

Lip Balm: Fresh Sugar Tulip Tinted Lip Treatment (very slight color which I love and it comes in other colors as well). I have forever dry and chapped lips and this is the only lip balm that helps hydrate my lips.

Glosses: Urban Decay Revolution Lip Gloss (I have the shades Apocalypse and Punch Drunk). I absolutely hate lip glosses but these are the only ones I'll wear, the pigmentation is amazing and they're not sticky or goopy at all.

Lipsticks: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks (my favorite shade being Poe) and MAC Lipsticks (the matte finish, I have Viva Glam 1 and Pink Plaid). Both are very long wearing with amazing pigmentation.

Liquid Lipsticks: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks (my favorite shade being Bow N Arrow). Again, long wearing and very pigmented.

Some people find matte finishes and liquid lipsticks to be drying so keep that in mind as well but I don't have any issues/I don't really mind.

My latest favorite lip product is Yes to Coconuts Lip Oil. Moisterizing & glossy, It is a bit thick, but not oily.

I love lipsticks. I'm not a high end gal. I love Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks, they're matte and not drying & their Silk Finish lipsticks, it's a satin finish. I just started buying Milani Matte lipsticks, and they are amazing. Very pigmented and long lasting.

@Alexis, I have forever dry and chapped lips too! That's why I was wondering how you can get away with wearing matte liquid lipsticks? I feel like matte lips never work for me. I personally always go for gloss, but I would love to look fresh with a matte lip too. Do you prepare your lips for liquid lipsticks or? I'd love to hear your tips on this :)

@Marleen, Lip oil sounds sooo good! I feel like my lips would love that!

@Kim, I'm not really a high end gal either and I've been wanting to try the Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks for the longest time now. Do you have any shades you prefer?

Tiia, I just make sure to care for my lips as much as I can and keep them hydrated. The Kat Von D liquid lipsticks don't stick to dry patches as badly as some other regular lipsticks do, which is also why I like them so much. I suggest putting on your lip balm first thing in the morning or right before you go to do your makeup that way by the tip you get to your lips they'll be better moisturized and hydrated (:

My current favorites are Milani and Maybelline, both regular and matte. for liquid lipstick I like the hard candy velvet mouse lipsticks, and I love revlon glosses. I'm not a fan of super thick textures in my lipsticks or gloss and I just personally don't like anything sticky or tacky as far as lipgloss. I personally don't like lipstick with shimmer in because it feels way to heavy, but a gloss with shimmer I do like. My current favorites are Milani matte naked with Revlon Super Natural on top, or Maybelline 915 blushing beige lipstick with Revlon Snow pink lip gloss on top.

I absolutely love balmy lipsticks that leave a plum sheer wash of color on my lips. My favorites are Clinique Black Honey and the Fresh Sugar Plum spf lip balm. The Clinique will last a bit longer than the balm.
Also, I'm a big fan of Cha Cha tint by Benefit, it comes in a nail polish type packaging and it gives me a long lasting coral tint, and I use it on my cheeks too!
What else? I use a lot of Kiko makeup products for the lips, I have so many. Their automatic lip liners are amazing, I am just now running out of mine and I absolutely cannot stay without it!
I also adore Rebel by Mac, it's a great dark magenta lipstick that looks good when I wear it opaque and when I blot it or sheer it out, and it becomes more of a raspberry tint.

I definitely tend toward the more matte/satin finish lipsticks. Really so long as the texture doesn't feel to slippy I'm fine (because I don't really like lipliners!) but I don't like anything super matte because it gets drying.

I honestly don't have a favorite balm, so I'm glad you guys posted some suggestions! I really like the Hourglass lipglosses (I'm unsure what they're specific name is) but you had a nude color named Truth that I used all the way up! Medium pigment, mid-shine, and a non sticky texture were all pluses for me. :)

The best lipsticks I have ever used are absolutely the Nars Audacious lipsticks; I can't get enough! They are pigmented, creamy yet they stay put, don't emphasize my dry cracked lips, last forever, fade beautifully into a stain, and are a gorgeous natural satin finish. I adore them and would recommend them to everyone! They're worth a splurge. I'll try to post swatches if I get the chance (but I'm very forgetful so no promises!)

My absolute favorite lipstick has to be the Marvelous Moxie bareMinerals lipstick in the shade "Take Charge". It's a beautiful pinky nude color with slight undertones of gold and it goes with everything.

@Arayah, thanks! Would you like to be more specific about the products you've mentioned? I'd gladly hear why those are your favorites. Too bad Maybelline Babylips only dries out my lips :/

@Tia, you mean soft matte lip creams? I've tried those and lip lingeries from NYX and I just can't make them look right on my lips! :( Any tips would be appreciated! :)
