I bought inglot gel liner because of all the good things I've heard about it on here, but I came out disappointed. I only apply a wing, no bottom eyeliner and it transfers to the bottom and on my eyelid. I'm not sure what I may be doing wrong? Does anyone have any tips to help it stop transferring?

As Hailey said, try setting it with a black eyeshadow and maybe try setting the out side of the eye extra so it doesn't get greasy/teary :) I've found this helps with the longevity of gel liner x

Yep this happens to me too. At first I really like the liner but then it keeps smudging plus on top of that it's super hard to remove just by washing alone.

Did you apply an eyeshadow primer before?

Thank you everyone. Yeah, I think I have hooded eyes. I'll try setting it with black eyeshadow and using an eyeshadow primer before hand. My eyelids get oily after 8 hour shifts, so I'll try everyone's tips. I just thought this eyeliner would be a one step wonder from all the good things I've heard about it lol

I'm actually really surprised a lot of people recommend it because I've heard that the smudging was an issue.

I prefer the Chromaline from MAC.
But on hooded eyes, liquid liners are a bit better on the lids.
I quite like the MAC Liquidlast liner or the K-Palette 24h real lasting eyeliner

Thank you for the recommendations Aurora. I have two opened gel liners at the moment so I think I'm just going to try to use them up and try to make them work. But inglot seems like any regular gel liner to me.. I need to practice liquid eyeliner cause I'm horrible at it lol.

Hmm, weird. I have it and it doesn't smudge at all, even after hours and hours of wear. I have oily lids as well, but whenever I use the gel liner I have primer (Mac soft ochre) and shadows on so that makes my eyelids matte beforehand. I haven't used it by itself with nothing underneath though. I find the inglot extremely long wearing, maybe it just doesn't work with everyone.

I never wear eyeshadow so I just never really thought to put eyeshadow primer on either, but if it helps yours stay on then I'll try using a primer and a skin colored eye shadow. Crossing my fingers it'll help.

I use Too Faced Eyesahdow Insurance and it prevents your lids getting oily, so the eyeliner will last longer and won't smudge. I also have hooded eyelids, so this trick should work :)

I tried to use my Lorac eye primer, not much of a difference.

Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the Inglot Gel liner. :( I have never had a problem with Inglot smudging or transferring on myself or anyone else I have applied it to. In fact, I have the opposite problem...getting the Inglot off the lids. After wearing the Inglot on my eyes, I tend to look like Jack Sparrow for a day or so after.

From what you say here, you have a few challenges... oily lids, and a hooded eye. In my honest opinion, I don't think it's necessarily the Inglot gel liner that is the #1 issue. When you have oily hooded lids, where you place your liner in relation to your hood could be the issue that is creating some transfer. That compiled with how much you apply and an oily lid...Even the creams you use on your skin can break even the toughest liners down, and that's a lot to ask any liner to stand up to.

If you truly have a hooded oily lid, a silicone primer (as you have found out) probably won't work for you. If you don't prime your lid with some sort of product that will deal with the oil on your lids, you will most likely have an issue with most every type of eye liner. If I use the Inglot on an oily lid and I'm not applying shadow, what I do is take a tiny amount of Nurturing Force Blot Offensive and gently tap a tiny bit onto the lids. That comfortably mattes the lids quite nicely, and then I'll apply the Inglot. The Nurturing Force will keep your lids shine free for hours on end. It'fantastic cream multi-purpose cream for anyone that has oily or combo oily skin.

That being said, sometimes a gel liner just isn't the best option for your lids, and a liquid liner would be the way to go. If you want an inexpensive way to make sure you liner goes nowhere, I strongly suggest purchasing Inglot's Duraline. I believe it's like $12, and you can use this to make powder shadows into liners and to seal and waterproof any type of liner. Applied over a liner, nothing is going to move.

Thank you Jacqueline! I think I'm going to purchase inglots duraline. :) I think it may be the way I'm applying my liner as well, cause I make it thick enough where you can't see any lid space. Maybe I'll try to make it thinner, but it's so weird to see lid space since I'm so used to having it all black lol.
