RCMA Foundation questions

He all! I just received some samples of RCMA Foundation. I would like to know the best way to apply this foundation. One YouTube video said to use a Beauty Blender, another one said do NOT us a Beauty Blender, but to dot it on the face and blend it in with a dry brush. Another question: is it an every day foundation or for special occasions? Is it for photographs or for when you just want to look good? Is there any particular reason or situation that I would use RCMA over one of the other 6 foundations I own? I've read so much hype on it, I feel like I have to try it!

Hi Chris, this video should help you out a bunch =) https://youtu.be/WmYTtZ3R3F4

I personally do own the RCMA foundation, and I apply it with my fingers and then blend it with a paddle foundation brush.

Hi Chris! I love the RCMA foundation! I tend to use it more for special occasions only because I'm lazy in the mornings before work.
I prep my skin with the Embrolisse creme and let a small amount of the foundation warm up on the back of my hand. Then I dab on with my flat paddle brush, then blend. There's a bit of a learning curve to find what works best for you, so don't give up! I'll finish it with a bit of Hourglass Dim Light and my skin looks great - even in pix.

@Hannah, thanks so much for sending the link! I look forward to watching it!
@Tina, thanks for the details! I use Dim Light almost daily! Appreciate your input!

@Hannah - hahaha! I watched that video last night! He's the one who said to not use a Beauty Blender! His brush was unfamiliar to me...the shape...? It didn't look like a paddle brush. I have paddle brushes and usually don't love them. How do you think the foundation would work with an Artis or buffing brush? Would they absorb the foundation?

I think it just depends on the person.

I prefer my fingers and then sometimes I'll use a synthetic paddle brush but I feel I use less when I use my fingers to apply and blend in.

A beauty blender may sheer out the coverage a little, I am not really fond of beauty blenders for application but they are good if you want to get rid of some streaks or blending out.

The paddle brush is nice but sometimes it can leave some streaks.

A synthetic kabuki or flat top kabuki is good and quick, you can really buff in the foundation but with the RCMA I don't feel it really need to be buffed in since it already looks like skin and not mask-like unless you out too much but if I have more time then I'd just use my finger to apply and blend. If I was in a hurry I warmed it up with my fingers and applied it in certain areas then buffed it in

He said not to use a Beauty Blender in that video? Maybe we watched a different video but he used a Beauty Blender type of sponge to blend RCMA out. If you want to use a Beauty Blender or sponge, it just has to be clean and dry: No wetting it.

He uses 2 different types of brushes in that video, and if you look through your collection, you might have one just like it. In the video he is using his Revolution BX-55 to blend out the foundation. I don't have the BX-55, but I do have BX-60 which is the pointed concealer brush. It's a smaller version of the BX-55, but the shape is the same. I do have the other brush he uses in that video, and it's on the right.

@Aurora, thank you! I have a flat top Kabuki, I believe. I guess I will have to try it all...?!
@Jacqueline, I certainly could've misunderstood or mis-heard. I had just watched the video where the woman used a Beauty Blender and then I watched his and was disappointed to hear him say not to, but again, maybe I've made a mistake. I have some Revolution brushes - the BX-40 and the BX-45 are two of them.

The product is wax based which is a dry blender, fingers, or brush work best.

Chris, I love using their thinning agent to ease my own application and you don't sacrifice lovely coverage.

Oh Rozberry, thank you! I don't have the thinning agent - I still only have samples of the foundation, deciding if I want to buy more. It seems a little similar to Kevyn Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer...is it? I've mixed the Kevyn Aucoin with primer...is the RCMA different? Do you thin it for less coverage?

Jacqueline H.

Correct, you don't want to use a wet sponge with a wax base. RCMA also makes a clear foundation that you can also use as a cutting agent if you so choose to do so. If you use the clear, the consistency of it will stay the same, whereas if you use the liquid thinner, you'll get more of a liquid like mix. :)

Oh, just another fyi... If you cut it with their liquid thinner, it changes the finish because the thinner is Isopropyl Myristate and Castor Oil. You get a dewy type of finish whereas if you cut it with the clear foundation, it won't change the texture or the finish. I mixed some RCMA with the liquid thinner on the left, the mix with the clear is on the right.

Ms. Jacqueline explained the companion products perfectly. Thank you!

I prefer to thin it out. I feel it's still really nice coverage, especially for photos. I love the flexibility of the products because some days I want to really sheer it out to show off my skin (but better), and other times I'll thin it out but much less and I think it's still great coverage that hide flaws while remaining natural in appearance.

I own the Skin Enhancer as well and I cut that hardcore with primer. While I enjoy it, I like the finish of the RCMA better than the Skin Enhancer. I personally could/would never use an oil and wax based product daily; I often prefer to wear just tinted sunscreen or my MUFE Face and Body. My RCMA I reserve for special occasions or for when I know they'll be photos and it never disappoints.

I own both companion products for maximum flexibility.

I don't look at RCMA as a 'special event' type of foundation. I'm an RCMA girl for life, and I very rarely feel the need to cut it. It's just such a flexible foundation all the way around. :)
