I have natural black hair that I've always wanted to lighten, but I didn't know if light hair would suit me. Recently I decided to get a balayage because I thought it was a nice way to incorporate light hair in my look, but that's not at all what I got.

I gave the stylist 3 pictures of what I wanted, all really similar, but I told her to focus on a certain picture (that I've attached). What she ended up doing, though, was lightening the bottom 2 inches of my hair bright caramel and then created a few face framing highlights. Not at all what I wanted, and I really don't like it.

How do I fix this without spending another $150 at another salon? I really don't want to just put a dark dye over it, but I just really hate this dip dye thing I now have.

First of all, I would suggest getting a hairdresser who listens to what you say. Otherwise their are lots of videos and blog posts detailing how to balayage your hair. You could try one of the methods they suggest. Be careful though because you can really damage your hair.

She obviously didn't do her job right I think you should go back and complain

I agree with Delara. Go back and complain, take your pictures again and tell them exactly what you've told us here.

I agree, go back and complain but ask to speak to the manager/owner.

Looks like she isn't properly trained in baylyage. She did an ombre and brought some of the hilites up a little higher. call the salon back and ask form them to put you with someone who knows baylyage. they shouldn't charge yiu for it either.

Yeah it needs to be lifted at least 3-4 levels more to get the right color but at least she did a good job at making a seamless transition so it won't be difficult to fix.
