That's really interesting! We don't have joanns here, so I thought it was super weird when I read it but wow they have tons of costume lashes!
You could also just find any pair of really long lashes and trim them to be like individual lashes, and glue them on top of a regular pair in a really separated pattern like the picture. I've done it (much shorter) with lashes on my bottom lashes to make a twiggy inspired look! It's easy and it makes it great to get exactly what you want
