I like both very much. I owned the porefessional and only had testers of the smashbox but I think the smashbox does a better job at smoothing out texture.

I hated the POREfessional as well but I absolutely love the Smashbox Pore Minimizing primer, that one is basically my holy grail.

It depends on your skin type! porefessional works better for filling in my sister pores, but smashbox works better for smoothing out my skin, so I would say try some samples out at ulta or sephora first, and see which fits your skin type more.
