What's the best way to find a professional makeup artist?

My dad's fiance is looking to get her makeup done for her wedding. She tried a few counters but they didn't seem to know how to work with hooded eyes and mature skin. None of the looks were flattering.

What I suggest doing is going to a site like thumbtack.com. Enter that you are looking for a makeup artist and follow the prompts. Local artists in your area will then respond to your request. You will be able to look at their work, set up a trial and negotiate a price.
