In three weeks I will be heading out to a beach in Mexico :D I want to get a nice tan but am COMPLETELY lost on the matter since I've never gotten one before. Is there a tanning lotion y'all would recommend or anything of the sort? I really appreciate any tips or advice since I am a super beginner on this!

This stuff is pretty awesome :) depends how much darker you want to go but I've always gone back to this stuff, I leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning and always wake up looking super tanned, people never noticed it was fake either :) you might need someone to help you apply it on your back and hard to reach places though haha! It just goes on like a moisturiser and gets darker the longer it develops.

I absolutely love the Bondi Sands foaming tanner! It gives such a beautiful tan/brown color without being orange. Also, the smell is amazing! (If you like coconut) It's also really hard to make streaks in the product which is really helpful for beginners! This product wears off evenly as well. It is an Australian brand so I bought mine off of amazon. I definitely recommend the mitt that they sell as well! You will most likely need help applying it to your back.
I would also recommend the St. Tropez gradual in shower tanner. It is sooo easy to use and streak-free natural tan. That you would have to start now, so it will build up by the time you leave.
As an overall tip, before any kind of tanning, make sure to exfoliate your entire body and moisturize. If you have a heavy dry patch, any tanner will cling to it like you wouldn't believe. As for my Bondi sands, I shower, exfoliate, moisturize, wait 2-3 hours, apply tan, and wash off in 3-6 hours.

Thank you tons for your help Shaye! I was afraid no one would answer! Does this stuff stain if I sleep overnight with it?! I'll definitely be looking into that one today!
Shelby, do these give darken up your skin a lot? I'm extra pale without makeup and I'm scared that I'll toast up super fast!!

Whatever you use make sure that when you are out there you use something that has at least SPF 15 and reapply it every 2-3 hours or after getting wet - if you don't then you will for sure get burned which could lead to skin cancer so just be careful and try not to be out when the sun is the strongest from 10am-2pm - it's best to limit your sun exposure to short increments each day.

Disclaimer, the best tanning advice isnt always the best health advice.
For a great tan and super soft skin, stick to good old tanning oil. You can go with one by Bananna Boat or Hawaiian Tropic with a low SPF, or just get a big jar of coconut oil. Apply a facial sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or 20 on your face ONLY. To avoid burning (especially if youre prone to it), don't go out to tan right at 12. Go from 2-5 pm for the best color. Moisturizer is your best friend to obtain and maintain a tan. Dry and scaly skin will not nicely or evenly.

No it doesn't stain things from my experience :) I don't wear white often though lol so I wouldn't know if it stains that particular colour :)

Fake bake 1 hour express is my fave. I apply it pretty haphazardly and it still looks great lol! Very even and natural looking. It says to leave it on for an hour but I usually sleep with it on and rinse in the morning and it doesn't stain my sheets:)
