Hi! Came across this shade in the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. It's for medium dark skin with brown undertones.
Is that the same as a neutral undertone? Or a cool undertone?

That shade has a neutral undertone that can pull more to the warm, not cool.
When it comes to a neutral undertone, there will usually be no with no overt overtones of yellow, or pink. What's cool about having a neutral undertone is that one can usually get away with wearing more than one shade in any foundation's given lineup. That being said, just because one may have a neutral undertone, that in no way means that a neutral undertone does not pull to one side of the cool or warm spectrum. For example, I have a neutral undertone, but I pull to the warm side. In MAC I can wear a straight N or an NC, but never an NW. In essence, I can wear a foundation that has a beige neutral undertone or one with yellow undertone. Come summertime, I get more of an olive green cast to my skin, so I have to wear Joe Blasco's Warm Olive 3.
A few good examples: Someone that wears Syracuse can wear Bobbi Brown's Moisturizing foundation in Honey 5, Laura Mercier's Moisture Supreme in Suntan Beige, or Illamasqua's Skin Base in SB14. These shades would work on someone who wears Syracuse but they would be slightly warmer, but still realistically wearable. :)
