It could be a stupid question, but I need to know why does'nt work concealer as eyeshadow base? So what is the effect of a eyeshadow base?
Thank you :)

I think it's too oily. I use bh cosmetics waterproof concealer in fair as an eyeshadow base, and it works great. but that's the only concealer that didn't cause creasing. An eyeshadow base, most times is a bit tacky. it grabs onto the shadow. I don't really know how it does it. I'm sure someone else on here knows.

Well maybe I should buy an eyeshadow base. Do you know any good drugstore brands?:)

I use my concealer as an eye shadow base every day - why doesn't it work for you Alina?

Elf sheer eyeshadow primer is ok if used lightly and powdered a little. Hardcandy has a good one. A flesh tone matte waterproof eyeshadow stick/chubby pencil. works great as a eyeshadow base too.

Alina do you set the concealer with a powder? what I do is, I put my concealer under my eye and take the excesses and put it over my lid, then I set it (the entire lid from.lash line to brow) with my setting powder or an eye shadow the same color as my skin - and then after that I will apply my eyeshadow.

Yes you can use concealer as eyeshadow base granted its directed towards your skin type. I personally love Mac soft ochre though

A mua once explained to me so well why an actual eyeshadow primer works better than concealer, I cannot remember her words exactly but it was something along the lines of that it avoids creasing and the eyeshadow moving around better as opposed to a concealer which cannot prevent the oils from the eyelid coming through to the eyeshadow as well.

Hmm I find mind will always crease as I have hooded eyes and it creases where the lines are if that makes sense lol.
I find it works best by wiping my lid clean of any oils and taking my RCMA setting powder on a fluffy blending brush and buffing it in.
I can see why a concealer may not work.. Especially if it's not exactly formulated for the eyelids. But some gals are just lucky! Is there a particular reason you are using concealer on your eyes instead of an eye product? There are some really god eye bases/primers out on the market and some primers even have beige tints to them to help even out discoloration.

The purpose of concealer is to "conceal" meaning to cover up something. if you try to use it as an eyeshadow base its not work out bc it's so oily and only meant to cover up spots/blemishes. Tip: you can use concealer as an eyeshadow primer though.
The purpose of an eyeshadow base is to use under a duo chrome eyeshadow. depending on the color of the base it can change/effect the color of the duo chrome eyeshadow.

I always use my concealer as eyeshadow base... it works perfectly! I set it with a light nude eyeshadow and then I do the rest of my makeup

It depends on the concealer. I think the more longwearing types would be a good fit but I wouldn't really recommend a cream/pot concealer or one that's more for under the eyes that are meant to be more hydrating unless you have drier eyelids

Concealer, in my opinion, will always crease no matter what anyone says. I have hooded eyes as well and love using concealer as an eyeshadow base. I would just set the concealer with a powder.

I use concealer if I'm in a pinch but I usually go with the nyx jumbo pencil in yogurt or milk :)

I used to use MAC studio fix as a concealer a while ago but then started using MAC paint pots (my fav is painterly) and love it.. But if you don't have it concealer works but make sure it's a thicker one not a liquid more like in a pot or like it..
