Some of you know that I was unhappy with the Ultra Matte lip in Donut. Such a pretty color, but it flaked and crumpled off after 20 mins. Alexis recommended I contact customer support, which I did (with pictures) and after being asked to take a pic of the batch # on the bottom, was told "We are sorry to hear you are having difficulty with this particular formula! It is "Ultra Matte" and thus can be a bit drying for some. Unfortunately, we have no return, refund or policy however, we do have a few tips to help improve the wear of your Ultra Matte Lip!

1. Always exfoliate your lips first! This will prevent patchiness and keep lips looking healthy.

2. Try applying a primer, light chapstick or lip pencil before application. Many customers with dry lips have mentioned this increases the comfort for them when wearing!

I responded saying how I exfoliate and put Chapstick/balm on before I use liquid lipsticks. I'm a little perturbed that they will only replace products that have been damaged vs those that make their customers unhappy. I'm going to have to play around and see if I can make it work somehow.

Wow that's extremely disappointing! I understand maybe it costs more for them to send you a new one however in situations like this they should just accept it as a loss in order to keep customers happy.

That's really frustrating. How could they not care that their product is almost like defective??

What a shame Jackie, but luckily it wasn't an expensive product!

You can try mixing it with another more comfortable liquid lipstick maybe :)

I know Dana! The fact is I know certain colors work better than others but after only 20mins? And I hadn't really eaten anything. I'm a bit disappointed.

@sabrina true. But I just loved the color so much! Ahahaha. I'm thinking I'm going to mix it with my Melted Coral. What do you think?

@RT I ordered 3 and donut was the only one that gave me that issue. Privacy Please was the best. It faded amazingly and lasted literally all day (I have a post about it on here). Lumière 2 was a bit darker than expected, but lasted really well. Only experienced flaking after hours and hours of wear (have another post about it as well)

Emma, that's what I thought, or at least was willing to think- give them the benefit of the doubt, ya know? I even said that in my email which is why they wanted to see the batch #. But I guess they determined that nothing was wrong on their end?  Sigh.

That's disappointing, but they are still a smaller company. Even though they are making bank they are not as big as the brands that do returns. I have considered opening an etsy shop and that's one of the things I looked Into, and unless they lived in the same city as me returning would cost me more than the price of their lipsticks. So it would cost them double the amount to let people return it. Especially when some people abuse the return policies. I do wish they did a thing where you paid to send it back and paid shipping costs, but then it wouldn't be worth it at least in Canada where shipping is crazy expensive.

Hopefully mixing it with another one will work out better. You could also try mixing with another formula like a super moisturizing one that has a good but not great lasting time. That way it wouldn't flake off from being really dry. The sephora oil infusion one comes to mind. But I'm not sure if the formulas would mix well.

Alyx, I totally understand. Just a bit disappointed (word of the day lol). I don't know if I should mix it with another liquid lip, or something else. I honestly want to keep the color as true as I can. I guess I'll have to become a somewhat mad scientist! Ahahaha.

Jackie I just figured I would let you know that I bought the NYX lip primer and applied it before applying my Ultra Matte and it literally made it SO much more comfortable!! the dryness wasn't that bad originally but still noticeable and now the primer made my lips so comfortable and soft after the lipstick dried!!

Oh sh*t, I just ordered Donut...I have ordered 3 Ultra Mattes in the past (Scrooge, Bad Habit, & Tulle) & the only one that was really horrible in the cracking & drying out department was Tulle (& I was really upset when I got it, I wasn't expecting it to be so dark). The other two aren't so bad, I just can't wear them all day at work where I can't touch them up often. They're just so high-maintenance, maybe light colors will be better? I ordered Beeper along with Donut. Ugh this makes me nervous!

I notice the wear is pretty much T he same! the color held up nicely, seeing as I've been wearing it 8 hours. It faded a bit and flaked a bit but nothing too extreme or out of the ordinary for an 8 hour wear!

I just bought the color trap... and it looked just like the picture you posted up of yours.. My lips didn't look or feel dry but street applying it looked horrible. I'm not impressed.

@Anh I'm sorry to hear that! I'm frustrated that there's nothing they can do. I totally get and respect that they are a smaller company, but to produce a product that doesn't have even a 30 min wear time is crazy. Gonna hope I can make it work somehow
