Ion demi permanent hair dye over faded green?

I bleached my hair about 1.5 years ago and dyed it with Ion's teal (which NEVER fades), so only the ends of my hair have that color now (about 3 inches) and the rest is dark brown.

I really don't wanna bleach my hair again and I wouldn't like to dye the virgin hair (at least not all of it). Do you think putting red dye over it could cover it?

I'm considering ion's demi permanente hair dye in some red hue because this dye uses 10 volume and I've red that it' s not as damaging.

Red wouldn't cover it. Red and green cancel each other out and you would likely end up with brown on the ends. If you just hate the green and eventually want red, I'd suggest going around the color wheel to get to red. So you would go purple first, then magenta then red. Here's an article that explains in more detail: www.haircrazy.com/articles/hair-science/colour-theory-for-hair-dyeing/
I use this method often, I'm even currently using it to get rid of the pink I have now.

If you just want to cover it than I would use a brown color that's similar to your hair color (or black, its hard to tell in the picture if it's dark brown or black) in a red tone to cancel out the green, leaving you with a neutral toned brown/black. Unfortunately ion is known to stain the hair shaft and the only way to get it out is to go super dark in the opposite tone, or cut it off. Bleach or anything that uses developer won't do anything useful to it since it's a stain, there's nothing to remove anymore it's just the permanent color of your hair. If you want to, you could also try fading it with a couple methods, like the vitamin c method or using dish soap as basically a mask for a few hours. Even on stained hair I find using these turns it into a tint rather than a full on color. They aren't damaging, just drying, but a good hair mask fixes that quickly. I use these to fade my colors all the time and used it over ion teal after it stained my hair as well

Wait are you trying to make the color a brown shade?
If so then, yes. A red color will cancel out the green but since it's teal you'll want to get an orange based red.
Then you could go ahead and use a hair dye that's your color to match better with the rest of your hair.
Using a darker color in the opposite undertone could work but when you're using a color that has a red undertone compared to hair that's a full on teal it will still show the teal tone either in the light and/or as the brown fades

If you're trying to color the ends red then I'd second what Alyx said about using dish soap.
