I wouldn't start with a cream contour at your age and if you want a soft contour I would go for a light bronzer. And just apply it to your temples and under your cheekbones.

Too faced milk chocolate soleil bronzer or makeup geek contour pan in break up are both really good for a soft contour. The Too Faced bronzer is $30 and Makeup Geek is only $10. When I want something really soft and natural I use the MUG contour shade and the It Brushes for Ulta Live Beauty Fully angled blush brush to apply it. It runs around $28 I believe.

Use a soft taupe color like the taupe blush from NYX and just be light handed with it

I'd use a powder contour kit (I'm a huge fan of the Sleek contour kit) and an angled full brush.

Yeah, use a light bronzer, only along cheekbones and temple and I always use a flat fluffy brush so I don't have a harsh line at all.
