I don't have a lot of experience using Remington products, I hope you get your answer. Personally I'd just use a straightener that is not too wide, so you can wave your hair however you like. It's a very soft wave so you don't really need a curling iron.
Another option is very large rollers if you don't want to use heat.

I have tried using the straightener of similar shape but its a bit difficult making waves with it and if I use it as a curling rod the curls/waves appear bent as in not smooth waves

The bigger/looser the curl/wave the bigger round you want the barrel. for waves like that a 1 1/4" would probably work depending on how long your hair is. if it's shorter go with a 1" if it's longer go bigger.

Breeze I used my straightener today to curl hair and they turned out good!! I loosened them with my fingers and got soft waves! not as defined as in the picture but messy ones and I LOVED them! they gave my fine hair so much texture and volume!
