Hiya, firstly, I wasn't sure if this is the right category, so I apologise if it isn't.
So on to my question, I have, recently, started enjoying Oudh fragrances and bought Jo Malone's Velvet Rose and Oud which I absolutely love. It is a very sweet fragrance and has great longevity on me. I want to try a more heavier Oud scent next and Montale's Black Aoud came up on a lot of searches that's within my price range (some of these Oudh perfumes can burn a crater in your bank account!!). Now there are no stores in Dublin, Ireland that stock Montale (I have tried all the high end ones) So have any of you tried it? Is it a fragrance that stands out? For reference, I absolutely love Dior's Poison, Chanel Mademoiselle, Hermes Jour de Hermes, Jo Malone's Velvet Rose and Oud, Gucci Guilty. Of all the ones I've just mentioned, only the Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud has Oud in it but you get an idea of what I like. Hope there's someone here who's tried Montale's Black Aoud before as I really would like to know before I splurge. (Hope Miss Jacqueline sees this post! )

Thanks so much Jacqueline, I can't wait to try it. I personally love the idea of "deeper, sexier and more resinous" and I don't dislike Patchouli at all! Are there any other Oud perfumes that you recommend? The Montale website had so many Oud choices that it was overwhelming and really hard to decide. I have my eyes on the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Mood line even though it makes my eyes tear up at the prices! I hear Amouage also do Oud based perfumes. Have you tried either line?

Thanks again Jacqueline, truly appreciate your knowledge. I did see the Crystal Aoud on their website and was intrigued by it (could be my next purchase!) I've ordered the Black Aoud and can't wait for it, so excited!!
I love Dior's Poison and I'm so glad I found someone who shares the same taste, now I can come to you for further recommendations!! ;-)
It's funny how as I'm getting older my taste in perfumes have changed drastically, I remember being quite unimpressed with Oud in my younger days but now I can't get enough of it and other woody, musky and Oriental smells. I've also started enjoying Rose based perfumes too. I guess I am learning to appreciate complexity! And thank you once again Jacqueline! :-)

Ealu, I've recently been enjoying L'Atelier Cologne's Rose Anonyme. I find it very different than the typical rose based scents. It's more subtle and complex than Valentino's Rock n Rose (for comparison).

Hi Tina, thanks for the recommendation. In fact, I did have my eye on L'Atelier Cologne, someone else also recommended the same!

Jacqueline, just an update, I received my Black Aoud this morning and I absolutely love it!! It is stunning, and the sillage and longevity are spectacular!! I am definitely going to be looking up more from Montale!

Thank you so much Jacqueline! I have to say it smells better and better as the day progresses and that's really what I wanted. (I have heard how some perfumes just don't sit well on certain people!)
The sillage is exceptionally good, I had 3 people apart from my husband compliment me on it which was nice! And the longevity, My God!! I could still smell it on me the next morning and that was after a shower at night before I went to bed. I absolutely love it!! I am so tempted to look at Crystal Aoud and Aoud Damascus next! ;-)
