Has anyone tried African black soap? I want to get some but what kind and where do I get it??

Yes!!! Wonderful product for clearing up acne and acne scars. Get the 100% raw natural African Black Soap that is actually brown and comes in a round container. The one that comes in the bar form that's black in color is not the real deal.

You can go to any African/Jamaican/Caribbean type store, or you can get it online at Amazon.com. Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/100-Pure-African-Black-Liqiud/dp/B000W3WP1W/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It's very cheap, under 10 bucks, I highly recommend!!! This product has done wonders for my skin and the best thing is that it's all natural. You don't have to worry about any chemicals. I hope you decide to give it a try :)

Caty, it's a wonderful natural soap from Ghana, Africa that treats a variety of skin conditions. Click the link in my previous comment and it will explain and show you a picture of the product.

This looks kinda iffy. How do you use it?

If they have peppermint scented black soap try that too. It opens your pores in the shower & works wonders!

Just take a plastic spoon and scoop out a little bit. Lather it up in your hands and put it on your face. It doesn't smell weird even though it looks a little odd. It has a fresh, clean scent to it and it gets deep down in your pores and does an amazing job of cleaning your face.

Where do you live? I can look online and see if it is sold anywhere near you.

I just started using the bar for my face about three days ago as a last resort to get my skin completely clear, and it did cause a breakout the first day I used it, but my pores are so clean and my skin feels a lot smoother and healthier. The breakouts are almost gone, and my acne scars are already becoming less prominent. It is kinda drying, so I would use with a moisturizer, or alternate with a gentle cleanser every other day if you have dry skin.

Wait... this stuff helps with scars?! What kind of benefits have you guys seen with scars?

@ Andrea, it fades my acne marks and makes my complexion more even looking.

As Cameron mentioned, it's drying. I recommend Burt's Bees Intense Hydration night cream. This is another all natural organic product, no chemicals. It is sold in drugstores, Walmart, Target etc. It might seem pricey, but it's reasonable because it's under 20 bucks and it lasts a long time. A little bit goes a long way with this product. You won't have to use a ton to achieve results. It's really transformed my dry skin and it works so well with the African soap.

Oh and even though it says night cream, it can be used in the morning after you wash your face too.

I've been using African Black Soap for years. To keep my skin from getting dry and the help clear up any scaring I use pure 100% natural Shea Butter. I have oily skin but it still keeps me from breaking out. I've been using black soap and Shea butter consistently for the last 2 years. I now only get the odd spot and I used to get full blow acne when I was in my late teens. My fiancé loves it too :-)

Alexandria, I have the 100% natural African shea butter too, and I love it. I keep trying to school the girls on this website about African black soap/shea butter but people are stubborn and it falls on deaf ears. They'd rather load their faces up with harmful chemicals when there's a much better, all natural, cheaper alternative that will get their skin clear.

May I add that the initial breakout i experienced was just my skin purging whatever impurities it had in it. I can tell only because I had very small flesh colored bumps scattered around my face that have went away in just the few days I have been using this. My skin is irritated easily, and even though this slightly burned when I used it after I shaved, it surprisingly eliminated all trace of razor irritation/redness that I normally experience. I use the Nubian brand just FYI.

Cameron, I'm glad it's working for you :) I wish everyone knew about this product.

If you do not have acne or scarring, I wouldn't recommended black soap. It's not an everyday face soap for normal skin. Drys out your face.

Andrea, if you have the right moisturizer to pair it with, your face won't get dried out.

Although called African BLACK soap, the authentic good stuff should be beige and brown with flecks of black in it, not actually a bar of black soap. If you are using the bars of black African Black Soap, then you are using a commercially manufactured variety that is loaded with dyes. I wouldn’t suggest that one, try using the truly made in Ghana authentic variety for the true effects to kick in. This soap aids in healing acne, oily skin, eczema, and psoriasis.

@Jacy, I am able to use it twice a day because I have a great moisturizer to go with it.
