I use mine once a week or else it can leave a grayish/purple tinge to my hair. When I apply it, I let it sit in my hair for about 2 minutes then rinse. My hair Stylist told me if you rinse it out right away it's kind of pointless.

It not supposed to change the color of hair. That is not the purpose of purple shampoos. It is used for getting brassiness out of blonde color treated hair.

Doesn't make it lighter but if your hair is damaged and you leave it in for too long it will leave a purple tinge usually

It's best to use it once a week OR if you're noticing brassy hair. So it can work properly, it needs to have a chance to actually penetrate the hair. If its rinsed out right away, it doesn't have a chance to fully work.

It won't make it lighter! It may create the illusion of it being lighter because it takes out the brassy tones but it can not and will not lift colour from your hair.

My hair is white blonde. I use Pure NV violet toning shampoo daily. The more I use it the more purple gets deposited in my hair (that's what I want) so it made my hair violet/silver. As soon as I use a regular shampoo all the purple comes out.
