Never ever let someone pierce you, especially in cartilage, with a piercing gun. It's rare, but you can leave your face partially paralyzed, and no matter how well they clean the gun it will never be as sanitary and sterile as you would find in a tattoo & piercing parlor. Definitely go to a pro! Especially for the conch. They will use a 14 gauge needle, and there are a lot of blood vessels there, so you definitely want someone who knows what they're doing.

Conch is brutal! On top of the reasons mentioned, piercings guns use blunt force to make a hole versus a clean cut with a needle so the pain will probably be worse with the gun anyway!
Needle is definitely the safest bet :)

I had my tragus pierced with a gun before people knew how bad it was! My tragus is completely fine and I've never had any troubles with it but that doesn't mean problems can't happen. Your not allowed to use piercing guns anymore in the UK, needles are definitely the best option :)

Nooooo! I pierce ears with a gun but only certain parts. At my job we don't do all places because for most you need a needle.
