So, I came across this article on Buzzfeed: http://www.buzzfeed.com/alisoncaporimo/oil-cleansing?utm_term=.jhwrO35mV
If you don't want to read it lol, a quick overview is, it's basically saying using ONLY an oil on your face can do wonders. It cleanses, moisturizers, isn't harsh, and can be more beneficial. This isn't new to me, as I've seen people discuss using oils all the time on here, but mostly as a moisturizer only.
According to the article, how to do this cleansing process, it says: "How to do it: Place a hot, damp washcloth on the face for 20 seconds. Remove the washcloth, massage your oil of choice into the skin, let the oil sit for 30 seconds, and use a hot washcloth to gently wipe the oil away."
It intrigues me because it's basically all natural, and 3 face products in one lol (cleanser, moisturizer, makeup remover). Does anyone only use an oil on their face? I don't know why I'm so skeptical over it lol.

Oh and if you do only use an oil on your face, have you noticed improvements?

Following. I just finished reading it too haha I'm curious to see if anyone has done it. I really want to try oils but I'm of the "all oils are the devil" generation that made Oil of Olay change its name, so I can't shake the feeling that I'll break out like crazy.

My best friend does this! She uses coconut oil for all 3 lol.
I'm also skeptical...she got me into using it as a makeup remover, but I still go in with a normal cleanser at the end!
Her skin is normal/dry and she swears by it, it hasn't broken her out at all!
I hope someone else replies with more info lol I am interest also <3

I double cleanse using an oil based product but then follow up with a traditional cleanser. I found that by doing that my nighttime serum is able to penetrate when I followed up with a second cleanser as the oil blocks the serums from reaching my pores.

I do the same as Shelley. I studied dermalogica and work with them and they have a product called precleanse which is oil based and it's used prior to your cleanser so your cleanser can actually be beneficial as well as any products used afterwards ie toner, moisturizer, serums, etc. It truly is my HG product, I don't have oily skin but a lot of my friends do which I've turned on to using it as part of a double cleanse. Oil attracts oil and it liquefies sebum, dirt, debris and it makes my skin feel soo smooth and clean. on lazy nights I'll only use the precleanse and my skin is still great. I am always getting compliments on my skin from clients and random people which of course helps my business and I truly feel like this is one product that is the reason my skin is the way it is. I don't know what I'd do with out it!

I used to use coconut oil as a cleanser/makeup remover and moisturizer. I love it! My face is so soft and I can tell its a bit more glowy in the morning. I think it also helps control my oiliness and clear up acne, but that's just me. And I've never broken out from using oils on my face btw. Currently I use olive oil...it's okay but I'm probably going to go back to coconut oil after I finish up my olive oil bottle :) I definitely recommend trying it out.

Thank you all. :) maybe I'll try this out first with my regular cleansing right after, and slowly go into trying out just the oil to see what I like best.

I do oil cleansing but only with oils that are safe on my acne prone/sensitive skin - my mix includes the dior cleansing oil mixed with jojoba, castor, and a few drops of tea tree oil - it's great for deep cleaning the pores and clearing blackheads - but I still follow up with my toner (witch hazel) and just use some jojoba oil to moisture afterwards

I use the Body Shop cleansing oil to remove my makeup. Honestly, oil removes all your makeup; won't leave any residue and melts it all. Also using an oil cleaner to remove makeup is more beneficial than makeup wipes as they are more hydrating and arent as harsh. I also use the tarte maracuja oil at night as my moisturizer and it is amazing. The texture of my skin has improve tremendously, and scarring I've had from acne when I was younger has dimished significantly. But if you are going to start using beauty oils, make sure they do not clog pores and suitable for your skin type,

If you think about it,it would be good as if you put oil on your hand and put water on it...It doesn't wash off. So all those people that use water on their face aren't actually washing off the oils.
