Hey guys. I struggle with oily skin and bad acne and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on vitamin supplements for acne. Do they work?

I would talk to a dermatologist before taking just anything. You could make your acne worse or have a medical issue from having too much of one vitamin in your system.

Its nothing more than a gimmick because you can find the same nutrients in your standard multi-vitamin for far less money. And as the beauties advised above me...speak to your doctor before popping a pill. If you really want to change your skin for the better look into a skincare program that offers proven results to address the type of acne you are dealing with.

I've seen such supplements but I wouldn't "diagnose" myself well unless I was a doctor. If you have acne issues try to change your skin care and make an appointment to the dermatologist. Don't try to experiment on your own.

I agree Derms are best, but I bump up my skin care through my diet. Zinc, C, Omega 3 in particular. Ask your doc how power foods can improve your skin.

I am also struggling with acne and am already making an appointment with the derm. I've been there before and I swear it was the best money ever spent.

Vitamin A & E, but be mindful of how much vitamin A you have in your diet each day because there is a such thing as a vitamin A overdose. If you do happen to see a dermatologist, absolutely do NOT take accutane..whatever you do.

Just because not everyone experiences bad side effects doesn't mean it's worth risking.

Considering accutane (nor dermatologists for that matter) were not the point of this topic, I'll go back and say that vitamin E and A work very well to heal cells in the body. If it does interest you, vitamin A is a main ingredient in a accutane so it's something to think about when choosing vitamins! Turmeric (a super-spice that heals inflammation and hyper pigmentation) I believe comes in supplement form as well. I hope this helped some! Best of luck xo

I do hope you're able to find a solution, Emily! With whatever you choose to do.

Jacqyln...so glad it is working for you!!
Emily, my derm and physician both highly praise green tea for it is anti inflammatory, anti fungal and anti bacterial. Sip up and splash away safely. It is available with and without caffeine.

I would ask your doctor about what supplements to look in to. Personally I have eczema and I take omega 3 capsules and it definitely helps.

Cinnamon pills are amazing and even help with metabolism. When I take cinnamon my skin is consistently clear. HTH.
