In a few months I will be donating my hair. I'm so excited and nervous! But I know the person that gets the hair will appreciate it more than I ever could. But, I don't know what charity to donate it to. I want to make sure it is actually given to a cancer patient.
Here are my opinion:
Pantene Beautiful Lengths - Is this ran by the hair product makers? The only reason this is fishy to me is because they have REAL hair that people donated. And they make hair products. Wouldn't it makes sense to test their products on real hair? Sorry, that just crossed my mind the other night and it got me thinking.
Locks Of Love: 1\2 people say they are great, the other 1\2 say that they don't actually give their hair to cancer patients, they sell the hair to people that don't need them.
I know their is more but?? anyways can you please tell me who you think I should donate it to? Thank you.

Please do not donate to locks of love, they actually do sell the hair & make a profit instead of just giving the hair to cancer patients. I think you should research wigs for kids! my friend just recently donated 14 inches of her hair to them. it is a non-profit organization that gives the donated hair to cancer or other medical issues. I don't know anything about pantene beautiful lengths, though.

Following because I've been planning on growing my hair to my butt and now that I'm almost there I'm sick of it because it's too much work and I'm thinking of donating it when I'm done with senior year or so.

Locks of love gets too much hair, and that's why a lot of it gets tossed and sold.

So much misinformation about Locks for Love. More people should research before discounting their amazing deeds. Snipes addresses this very issue in detail here

I have friends in the pro hair industry who have run charity events with St. Baldrick's...notorious for their fundraising/headshaving events for Cancer Research. Highly reputable...I assure you. Their website provides a list of charities they suggest you donate your hair to. Those organizations, with details and links to their homepage can be found here. http://www.stbaldricks.org/blog/post/donate-your-hair-in-5-easy-steps/#wheretodonate
You are a treasure. Bless your heart.

I did locks of love, back when I was uninformed. I recently donated my hair to matter of trust clean wave program. they take any and all hair, 3 inches or longer.

The cool thing about matter of trust is they use 100 % of the hair sent..

I've donated to Locks of Love in the past. This is alarming to hear of their shady operations. :( One of my aunts donates every other year thru an organization that provides wigs for women who have lost their hair regardless of medical condition. Kudos to you and to anyone who steps up to the plate to donate.

When you donate to the Veterans here..they sell some of the goods to thrifts..to use for VETS and to cover operating expenses. It is all about exactly how you wish to donate. Please, be informed before you dismiss hardworking, reputable organizations, everyone. Even charities have costs. Luckily, St. Baldrick's provides reliable information.
