You can use concealer to cover your blemishes. I use UD naked skin concealer and it covers them! Face contouring is to shape your face to give an illusion of higher cheekbones or skinnier face it doesn't have anything to do with a matte look? You can use a mattifying primer to mattify your face. Smashbox light primer does just that, apply your powder foundation after and bronze or contour if you like

I'm loving the L'Oreal Infallible foundation and I actually just started using the Coty translucent powder in extra coverage and it does a really good job at keeping the oil away!

Mariah you would use the same color as your face for blemishes. Lighter concealer are for your under eyes to brighten it up :)

I really love the Kat Von d contour kit Mariah! It has no talc either! Which is perfect for me!! :) I wrote a review filled with pics and swatches on my blog if you would like to know more about it. (http://kezemi.weebly.com/vanity-room/kat-von-d-shade-and-light-contour-palette)

I have acne scarring, I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for a light base, then bare minerals original foundation over top. You can build both of them for more coverage depending on scars. As for breakouts, I would steer clear of ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING MAC.

The mineralize skin finish is more of a setting powder.
For oily skin it does nothing. And doesn't cover much at all.
I'd recommend trying the Studio Fix powder.
You'll notice it gives more coverage and there are a lot more colors so you'll definitely find a match.
I was matched to C30 which is a light/medium with yellow/olive tones. It matches better than any other foundation I've ever used.
As for blemishes, use one that matches your skin. If it's lighter it'll highlight the area making it more noticeable since it's lighter if that makes sense?
But a good way to really cover dark spots is using a little bit of orange mixed with concealer and then put on plain concealer over. The orange will color correct the darkness an make it easier to cover/blend in with the rest of your face.
