I've always had acne that occasionally gets inflamed but for the most part it's been calm. however, I have an issue where I have a bunch of whiteheads around my mouth/chin and in my lip line. I try really hard to stay away from them but sometimes if they get irritated they need to be popped. which can make them look like a cold sore but usually it goes away in a few days. this one has stayed all week now and the whole thing is bright red and swollen. I know forsure it's not a cold sore, it's an inflamed white head but the pimple itself has no head to be popped. I've been treating it with tea tree oil and trying to dry it out with a spot treatment which lowers the swelling but it's still bright red. anyone have any tips?

Did you pop it? If so apply Neosporin. Clean and clear makes a good spot treatment

I tried to, which made it inflamed but usually by now it would come to a head and I could actually pop it but it's just a swollen bump right now.

A hot wash cloth should bring the swelling down

I get this sometimes too. Personally I think the best thing to do is just not touch it. It gets inflamed and red and is very noticeable. If you leave it alone it won't be as noticeable and go away faster within a day or two.
