For the last couple of years I've been living with KP. It has come to the point where I don't even show my arms anymore, and I'm so self conscious and even sometimes emotional about it. I exfoliate about 3/4 times a week and moisturize daily. I was wondering if any of you on this app have lived with KP and gotten rid of it or made it better and what products/treatment did you use?
Thanks Xx

Goldbonds rough and bumpy lotion has helped me. I exfoliate nearly everyday and moisturize about twice a day.

I had this as a kid and my dermatologist gave me this prescription lotion (I can't remember what it was called) but it had a silver bottle with a purple lid. It helped a lot, but it was a little painful at first. Luckily my KP got way better when I turned 13 and it hasn't really been an issue for me since then. And that was almost 10 years ago. Also, the plain unscented cetaphil lotion and cleansers helped. My dermatologist recommended those too. Hopefully yours gets better soon!

You can also try CeraVe hydration lotion and washes. I used that for a long time. I do exfoliate once a week though I used to do it four or more times a week.

My dermatologist recommended AmLactin lotion for my KP (I get mine at CVS, but it is a bit on the more expensive side) and this stuff works miracles. I don't use it everyday (because I'm suuuper lazy so I tend to only use it when my skin gets bad) but when I do use it I will see significant effects literally overnight, and by day 4 or 5 my bumps are pretty much gone along with the redness and flakes. I love this stuff so much. It's super moisturizing, and it has AHA's to gently exfoliate the skin. Also, I saw that CeraVe was mentioned, and I really like their Moisturizing Cream (the one that comes in a jar) as well.

AmLactin is the only product that I've seen make a significant difference in treating it. It's not as noticeable on my arms anymore since I've been using it.

@Lexi its seems to work really good from what everyone is saying so I'll definitely look into it

If you can, I'd go to a dermatologist. Mine gave me a cream that has more salicylic acid then over the counter stuff, and it goes away in a few days. It makes my skin quite itchy and I get hives though (I have super sensitive skin and a skin condition where my body reacts in hives when it doesn't like a product or pressure, so I get hives from being poked sometimes) but that and the brand eucerin (sp?) helps a lot. The stuff in the tub especially. My derm told me to look for the ingredient Ceresin. Which all of eucerin products have.
But the stuff the derm gave me definitely helps a lot quicker. This really helps too though. And it soothes, so it takes away redness pretty quick.

Avon has a duo of products specifically for KP - there's a body lotion and a scrub, and they're $10 each. They both contain lactic acid, which will help exfoliate your skin and calm down your bumpy skin. Curel and Eucerin also make lotions for rough & bumpy skin...I had a lot of luck with the Eucerin but it sometimes made my skin a little too greasy.
