You'll need a fixative/sealer like Sealed with a kiss or at Sephora they now have one by Ciate lip & Mix glitz grip sealer.Fixative is used for lasting power.

Use lip liner, blot it and then apply lipstick, if your lipstick rubs of the lip liner will still be there & you can just re apply.

My lipstick stays for a good 4-6 hours.
I usually wear a matte or satin finish from mac.
all I do is exfoliate my lips at night then apply carmex.
I don't use a primer/sealer or "blot"
I don't think that applying lipstick, blotting and reapplying helps at all personally.

Mac lipsticks are meant for long lasting on it's own but if a lipstick of more waxy texture or different finish like some satin,shine,semi-matte, matte but not truly staying, sheer, ect may not be up to par and do need a extra shield to hold no matter if hour claim of finish or lip liner use or powder used.If wanted a full proof hold of color a fixative is a one step solution to all lipstick finish.

To add to everyone else's advice, make sure you aren't rubbing your lips together often. That's a quick way to get your color to disappear. If these tips don't help, you can always try a stain, or one of the 2 step longwear lip colors. For the latter, I really like loreal's new infallible longwear lip colors. They stay on FOREVER. Just remember to give it a minute to set, and then apply the gloss. You can blot off the gloss after a few minutes if you don't want shine, but the gloss helps set it so it doesn't feel gummy, so you'll want to leave it on for 5 minutes or so.

Alma, I use satin finishes lipsticks and they stay for 4 hours, not at long as matte lipsticks but they do stay for a long time.
without me using a lipliner, primer or sealer.

Yes I understand Les I'm talking about lipsticks in general that don't have that and may not contain lasting power or if a lasting lipstick that is provided doesn't work for her she can opt for a fixative. It's a option to the problem like makeup in general with foundation even if it says lasting up to 8 hours but doesn't last for a person they can spray a fixative aka a setting spray for the face to last.In other words to be clearer If what works for you may not work for another go for a Fixative to just set it like glue,a known makeup product to set in movies, film, pics and such just my suggestion from my opinion of what I use.Or if you have the option to buy a lasting lipstick then go for that too. These are all options no one is wrong in the suggestions. :)

Before I apply my lipstick, I usually put on some lip tint so if it rubs off it won't be so obvious. If your lipstick doesn't stay on for long, you can always put it in your bag and reapply when needed :D Also, you could try some other long lasting lipsticks and see which works best (doesn't need to be too expensive) :)
