So I've always had the issue that when I put eyeshadow or even liquid liner on my eye that my eyelid gets oily and my eye makeup transfers to the top of my lid. I tried using a primer before but it didn't really help, but maybe the primer wasn't good enough. Any tips?

Out of curiosity, what primer did you use?

I have the same issues. I'm auditioning eye shadow primers now. The other day Jacqueline recommended the Lime Crime waterproof eye shadow primer as being best for oily lids. Fingers crossed...

I've seen Jacqueline mention that the Limecrime primer is a base but won't control oiliness. I believe she recommends MAC paint pots as a base for oily lids as well. I've tried the LC primer as an eyeshadow primer and it will still crease. She does recommend Lorac's eye primer as her go to.
I find that adding setting powder before and after helps especially since I have an oily crease.
Also, buying good quality eyeshadows and eye liners can really make a big difference. I always find drugstore liners getting everywhere with just a gust of wind and a bit of humidity.

Wait, what? Two days ago she posted here saying that the Limecrime was the best for oily lids...

So confused now...

I'm using nars primer right now and it's been the best at controlling creasing. I have oily hooded eyelids so what I do is wipe off excess oil from my lids before smoothing the primer on. then let it dry a bit and add shadow.

Honestly I absolutely love too faced shadow insurence and urban decay's primers. They're simply the best.

I always set my eye primers with powder which 1. Mattes it out 2. Gives the eyeshadows an easier base to blend on so its not so "tacky"

My sister also has oily eye lids and after a while her eye shadow sometimes becomes barely visible. I recommend her the Milani eye primer ($8 I think) and she loves it. It's similar to Too Faced Shadow Insurance but has a thicker consistency :)

Sandra, I'm not your Sensei, but I have Painterly and it's a very cool tone, but when I apply it, it seems to be almost the exact color of my lids. It's just the most neutral shade I can think of to use as a base. I looked at Soft Ochre when I was in the store, and it looked to be too yellow for my tastes, but if you're just going to layer shadow on top then it shouldn't be a problem.
Also, in my experience, yes less is more. I like to apply a little at a time, blend it out, and then check to see if I need more. Once I used what in retrospect could be considered a "crap ton" (the technical term, lol) of this product, and my eyeshadow creased in maybe 2 hours. That's just me though =)

@Jacqueline
It worked fine for three hours, but lately it just creases on me even when used by itself. I did see you mention on a thread that it was a base, so I'm not sure if you're talking about the other Eyeshadow Brightener but it was a thread discussing oily eyelids. It seems to hold my eyelids great at first, but they just go back to them oily selves no mater how much or little I apply so I've literally just given up on the primer.

@Hannah
My paint pots always crease too! Lately If I don't set my eyes before hand with powder and after everything just gets oily in the crease.

My Paint Pots are actually generally okay as long as I use a very small amount. They'll definitely last a full school day, but not much longer than that, for me. I still prefer my UD Primer Potion =)

Well technically green tones would cancel that but cool tones, especially because the Paint Pots aren't sheer, should probably do the trick. I'm not sure what Mac's return policy is, but you can always ask for samples, they give those out for free =)

@Hannah How does the primer potion work with oily creases? Thats the only area that gives me issue lately.. before I could just use eyeshadow alone and if they were of food quality they'd never crease. I literallt feel defeated by my eye lids and the random change.

Honestly my eyelids are extremely normal (not oily nor really dry) but without primer my eyeshadow definitely doesn't last. I honestly like it, but I've heard mixed things from people with oily lids. I'm sure you know about the Sephora return policy, so it doesn't hurt to try, right? =)

Honestly Reny, I don't mean to be rude, but you tend to "rock the boat" quite often...some things are better left unsaid, and that's coming from someone who usually speaks her mind about everything. There's a time and a place, you don't always have to address people for their wrongs. No harm, no foul, I just believe it needs to be said. you like to stir up the mess when it's really nothing you should be concerned about!

Renay you often rock the boat as well, like your doing so now, I'm guilty as well, but reny does make a point, how often do you see these girls ask kitty questions and this happens? Its not right cuz some kids do look up to her and buy what she has mentioned, and I'm concerened about these kinds of misleading information as I'm sure reny is as well cuz its just that misleading information and its not right, I've said it before and I will say it again there's no competition here and no one knows everything we are all here to learn and there's no need to pretend you know it all cuz we all see what goes on here and the bull is easy to catch as it was caught in this case, and what's even worse about kittys case is that shes putting words in someones mouth and thats not right in any way, i said what i had to say, have a good night ladies

@Renay
It's totally okay! Reny is right, I do make mistakes and I don't mind if she questions them! The LC works fine for a couple of hours, but then it just flops and hopefully Jacqueline can help me out somehow.
As for the Tamanna Pallet, I did say that it swatched really bad in the store.. but I also saw you mention that it was well pigmented afterwards and someone else went ahead and bought it as well after saying she had the same issue with pigmentation in the store.. and it actually swatched really nice when I bought my own! I'm sorry if I confused you, but that palette really did swatch next to nothing at my local Sephora and I know people abuse those eyeshadow palettes.

I ordered the Lime Crime. I also sent back a bunch of primers/bases that didn't work for me. (NYX shadow base, CoverFx anti aging shadow primer, Sonia Kashuk shadow base).
Jacqueline (and others) I have a question about layering shadow base with primer. I like a shadow base because I can make a smooth surface on my lid, because the texture is more putty like. Also certain shadows really don't seem to have much punch without one, but I still crease up in the middle of the day, even if I've sealed the base with powder. Should I layer the base over a primer?
