So I'm newish to the makeup scene. I'm obsessed with bold looks for eyes--I'm obsessed with the Vice Palettes. I also love jewel tones. My concern is this: I'm worried I'm going too bold and am afraid I look like an 80s throwback. I use purples, blues, greens, etc.which are colors that are generally made fun of in regards to makeup. I just need some reassurance that I don't look like that lady from the Drew Carey Show. Also, any tips and tricks and advice would be appreciated.

I always wear a bold eye on the weekends, I'll wear glitter at 9 am I don't mind.
I totally sported a purple smokey eye this weekend! The funny thing is - the only people I've actually seen talk down about wearing blue eye shadow/glitter/etc.are magazine editors. And if you follow them on FB when they release those same articles as online versions ( ahem... cosmo ) there is like 99.9% backlash.
I say wear it now, cause when you're 92 you can't really sport a blue eyeshadow so flawlessly! We're also in a generation where wearing crazy hair colors is cool, and everyone is very open minded.

I just try to keep everything minimal when doing a very colorful eye. I have done a smokey eye with a red lip as well. It's really all about how much you like it. I personally feel like the only thing that can make something seem so awkwardly retro is very frosty eyeshadow and frosty lipstick.
