Next Saturday I will be doing my sisters makeup for a party and I will be putting foundation and stuff on her and I'm not sure where to patch test her to make sure the foundation is the right color and what would be the best lighting to have around her so I don't see any shadows on her when I'm applying her eye makeup and also I don't want to over highlight her so what would be the key points to just give a sutble highlight and if you have any tips on applying makeup on someone I have some experience on applying makeup on others but I want to make sure its a good job because its for her husbands formal work party and I want to give her the best I have to offer thank you so much in advance!

I'm not a professional but I read an article on here saying to match it to their cheek!

^ matching the color to your neck is better if you want a good color match.

Here's the link to the article! It actually says jaw so it's a nice middle man to make it easier to blend because of the drasticness due to exfoliating the face and such! http://www.beautylish.com/a/vxsxr/how-to-find-the-right-foundation

Color match foundation to her neck and check it in natural light to make sure it matches correctly.
Make sure she's lot from the front and the sides rather than from above since overhead lighting causes shadows.
Highlight the tops of the cheeks and down the center of the nose.

Jackie, I just took a screen shot of everything you wrote. Super helpful!!
Oh by the way I wanted to ask you a question. So I am only seventeen, but I want to take an online certification course or something to help prepare me for makeup school, etc... Any suggestions? Money won't really be an issue.
