So I have dermatitis (flaking of the skin) on my nose and up between my brows and nothing helps it. Moisturizing, exfoliating, peeling, nothing. It just continues to peel and flake. I can't afford to see a dermatologist, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and what helped them? Thanks in advance.

That is literally my life during the summer. I basically just had to wait it out and I know it sucks but if you put a primer on your face before makeup you usually can't tell your skin is flaking. The saint Ives oatmeal scrub/mask might help too. It's more gentle than their regular formula so it's not too rough on sensitive skin.

You're lucky you could wait it out. I've had it for years and it never goes away :/ I do prime and it still makes it look like my makeup look super caked on which suuucks. I use the st Ives apricot scrub, but I'll have to try the oatmeal mask. Thank you (:

I experience that sometimes. I've found that using a Konjac sponge (super gentle manual exfoliant sponge) daily followed by a thick moisturizer usually keeps it at bay. I do that at night so I can use a super thick moisturizer, but using the sponge in the am before applying makeup might be better if your dermatitis is more extreme.

Honestly I get this too :( I've also dealt with it for a long time and gone through several foundations finding one that doesn't lift my flakes up lol. Personally I just moisturise pretty frequently, twice or three times a day. I tend to use baby wipes to clean my face before any makeup application or priming, etc.because I've found it helps to smooth my skin out a little more too. I get bad dry skin around my nose, I understand how you'd feel lol it sucks

My mom (and sometimes I too) use the product by La Roche Posay called Kerium DS (t's not in front of me, I'm pretty sure that's the name). Our dermatologist suggested it. using it will result in a bit of redness right away and then it will leave your skin smooth after about a week of applying it (perhaps do it at night). It's a french pharmacie product, I hope you can find it.

I have dermatitis, ichthyosis and eczema on my face and body. I suffer from the same thing around my t-zone and generally use a heavy moisturiser at night before bed and gently exfoliate in the morning with a warm face washer, any heavy exfoliant I find usually creates more flaky patches. Instead of attempting to scrub them away I focus on the moisture part. Avene products are expensive and I do tend to use their recovery cream and mineral spray alternatively you could make some ice cubes with oatmeal, honey and lemon. The oatmeal soothes while the lemon brightens the dull areas associated with dry dehydrated skin. If at all costs avoid packing on foundation and concealer this just enhances the flakes instead avoid the dryer areas and put a tinted moisturiser over them. If you want a full coverage and can't live without it make sure your skin is well hydrated before doing so. I apply with a sponge instead of a brush so it's patted down and not worked into the flakes if that makes sense. I am currently reviewing the St Ives oatmeal scrub/mask and so far I've found it brightens and smoothed but does little for my dry patches. If I see really dry patches coming through I will aim to drink two litres of water per day to get my skin hydrated I also find eating high water content foods and good fatty foods like avocado helps heaps. Hope this helped :)
