Depending on what color you'll be dying it and whether it involves bleach or not. The dye won't be too damaging honestly. But if it involves bleach, damage will be done, but nothing a few hair masks can't fix. Also, yes, you'll be able to dye over it again, especially since you use Garnier dye.

Okay, so that'll involve bleach, I'd definitely go to a professional since its so specific. Since your hair is dark, the pieces that get bleached will be slightly damaged, you might have to get an inch cut off the ends as well, it'll dry them out and cause split ends, but this is all stuff that you already know haha.

You'll have to get bleach to do the highlights but since there not too light I think you should be fine (: but you should also consider the condition your hair is now.

Thank you guys very much! My hair is fairly healthy, with minimal spilt ends. And I'm glad! So @Shanae, if I dye over it, will it come out as different shades or will it be the same?

I personally, would dye it brown and then dye it auburn just to be safe. But splitting up the sections, light and dark and doing the light first and then the dark just to give the blonde a little more time to take the color, it'd be a little more risky, but dying it a second time afterwards, might even it all out. Either way, it'd dye it twice whether it's dark and then your auburn or auburn twice, focusing on the parts that didn't take the first time.

Ok, and do you recommend any hair masks to help with damage??

Definitely coconut oil or aussie 3 minute miracle moist. I leave it on as long as I can.

Hey, so YES. It is damaging to use this any box dye on your hair. Box dye is essentially expired hair color with no personalized formulation for your hair, it also contains metallic dyes which can cause a chemical reaction with bleach and cause the hair to melt. If your hair is an auburn color and the picture is what you are going for, I would suggest using a darker color from a beauty supply ( not box) to add in the low lights. And you will have to use bleach for the lighter colors (since color will not lift color ) if you have any more questions or want help with finding a good color formulation let me know! Also, if you are worried about doing it yourself and don't want to go to a salon, I would go to a beauty school. It probably won't turn out just like the picture. But it will be easier than doing it yourself. Make sure to have them do a bleach test strip before adding highlights to see if the hair can hold up.

I would recommend the Redken anti snap , it isn't a mask but it will help heal the split ends over time. You can purchase it at s Redken salon or great clips.
