Hello ladies. Would you recommend Proactive? I have acne that is driving me nuts. Is it worth a shot? Please tell me why or why not. Xoxo.

Nooooo, it will work but you need to stay on it for ever unless you want your acne to come back full force. Very addicting for the skin.

Well it works differently on everyone's skin. But my sister and I tried it and it dried out my skin terribly and caused my sisters skin to turn very red in her cheeks.
I'm not sure how it would work with your skin type.

I haven't personally tried it because I don't get a lot of acne but my mom has tried it & it worked out great for her. It got rid of all of her acne (she had pretty bad acne) & it worked out for her!

Proactive horribly burned and irritated my skin, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. If you're really struggling with acne then go to a dermatologist because Proactive is not worth the money or damage.

^the same happened to me. It would work but the moment you don't use it or stop you break out. I have also heard that proactive is one of the worst things you could even put on your face. So I would not recommend using it!

I have had moderate acne for 3 years and barely started using Proactiv in December. In 3 weeks it cleared my skin, although it was a very drying process (Sucked because I have extremely oily skin now it was just filled with dry patches) I continued using it, but suddenly it wasn't working as well as it used to. Instead of its pimple vanishing properties working it just ended up drying my skin up horribly. I went to the derm and she told me to use cerave face wash, and neutragena/cerave moisturizer with epiduo every other night. So far this has been working with me- I stopped using Proactiv products for about 2 weeks now. However the derm told me once I get used to the epiduo I can start incorporating some of the Proactiv products back in my regimen.

I also use a clarisonic at night with my cerave face wash. With the Proactiv face wash it kinda made my skin burn with my clarisonic, but I expect that since the Proactiv face wash is exfoliating paired with the clarisonic it was probably too much for my skin to handle.

I agree, it works for a while then the acne comes back with a vengeance.

It's definitely a risk. Some people love it and some people it just makes there acne worse. You should go to a doctor/dermo and see what they recommend.

I wouldn't recommend proactive for any one.. It made my face super sensitive and it also darkened my complexion. When I stopped using it my face broke out very badly, I had to take tablets to get rid of the infection.

I started using it in November and it irritated my skin at first, just because I wasn't used to that strong of a treatment. It does dry out your face, but I make sure to use the moisturizer that comes with it. So far I like it, but I haven't tried stopping it yet so I can't say what happens when you do. At first it may seem like it made it worse, only because its pulling the gunk deep down out of your pores so it brings everything to the surface but once that's gone, your face should be clearer. But as I said before, I don't know what happens when you stop using it so I can't say from personal experience.

I agree with the ladies above, it's a nightmare in a bottle.

Horrible!! My twin sister and I both used Proactive and it didn't work at all!! When my sisters skin got so bad and we had to change products to Skinstituted (which is now what I use) her skin started burning and so did mine, it was horrible ended up having such bad skin for ages and my skin hasn't been the same since, wouldn't recommended it but its your choice
