Hello,

This is my second time writing this so bare with me. It wouldn't post last time something about not having a good enough topic verbage :/??

Anyways, so last week at my training with mac they asked that we take home new skincare samples and use ones that we haven't tried before. I brought home mineralize charged water gel moisturizer. I love the way it felt on my skin, it melted right in without feeling greasy.

Later that week I added a new foundation into my routine. About day 3 of using both products I noticed small bumps on the left side of my face. I discontinued use of the foundation, I didn't like it anyways. I felt like it was getting a little better so I continued on using the moisturizer. However almost a week later I still have these bumps on my face. I have discontinued used of the moisturizer as of yesterday. Still waiting for my skin to clear up. FYI I never have major skin issues with moisturizers etc.

So first of all is it odd that only one side of my face is freaking out? Second, I'm looking for two new moisturizers. One that is going to be good for my skin when it is more oily but I still want moisture and one for my skin when it becomes dehyrated, because it does do both.

Any recommendations would be awesome. I've used pevonia before which I loved however it's been so long I wouldn't know what to get. I currently have dr. murad but when I switched back to it today I realized I hated it and it left me feeling greasy. I've also tried many others but these two stuck in my head.

All opinions are greatly appreciated

I have very sensitive skin to lots of products and sometimes my skin reacts weirdly on one side of my face compared to the other. As for a moisturizer I really like The Body Shops Aloe Vera Night Cream. I use it during the day and at night. It's lightweight, moisturizing but not greasy. When I'm more dehydrated I like to use The Body Shop's Aloe Vera Day Cream which is quite a bit heavier than their night cream. I also like Avene Hydrance Moisturizer. (All of their moisturizers are amazing and good for sensitive skin) they can be pricey so that's why I tried a cheaper alternative.

I appreciate your advice Shauna. Fortunately for me when it comes to skin care I'll spend just about anything if I know it will work :)

Oh my god! The exact same thing happened to me this month.

I had started using this new Mac foundation which I purchased. After a few days, my face started feeling really rough. The smoothness went and my cheeks had these small bumps on them! Yikes!

I immediately stopped using it. I tried out so many new face washes and moisturisers after that to get my skin back to normal.

The only thing that worked was the Body Shop tea tree oil face cleanser. Also, once my face is clean— I apply the Body Shop Aloe soothing gel. It's really hydrating but because its a gel it leaves your skin matte (which is perfect for oily skin).

I hope I helped :)

And same here, the bumps/roughness is mainly on one side of my face! Hahah!

I agree with the body shop. The seaweed line is what I use, its for combination skin so it might be perfect. Plus seaweed calms the skin. It's the whole reason I use it lol. But it moisturizes without being oily, and also controls oils.

And it's not weird that only half your face reacted. It could have been a number of things contributing to it (do you sleep on that side? It could have amped it up) things like that. Or it could just be more sensitive there. I understand it being weird, I have super sensitive skin, but when I tried the US naked foundation I got hives and weird bumps and rashes only on the outer edges of my face. My cheeks, nose and center of my forehead was clear but my jaw line, hair line, sides of my cheeks were just on fire. It was bizarre lol.

Thank you Mabelle, it's odd that only one side of our face has a reaction. I'm going to do some research on their products. Are they available at a sephora/ulta or just online purchases?

They do not sell it at Sephora. We don't have Ulta in Canada but I'm pretty sure they don't sell it there either. They have their own shops in malls or you can order online.

Contact dermatitis...starts out as small tiny bumps...they don't resemble acne but if you continue using the offending product it will eventually get bigger and could result in welting and blistering of the skin. Now is not the best time to start using new skincare products. I would just use a basic non-active ingredient cleanser and a basic moisturizer. If you feel any burning or slight pain applying a touch of hydrocortisone cream on the affected area will be ok. I experienced a similar reaction on my eyelids recently and I went to basic products...cleared up within 3 days and my skin looked like it never experienced anything negative.

I agree with Shelley try to limit your use of any and all skin care products and stick with the basics that you know will not cause further irritation - I've had horrible reactions to MAC products as well and have sworn off them for life - I'd rather take a chance on companies that are cheaper and use far less harmful chemicals but that's just me - anyways keep it simple until your skin heals before you try anything new.

Thanks ladies. Shelley I will do that. I was hoping I'd hear from you on here. :) Seems like the safest route to go until my skin clears up.

Sorry for the late reply, Tiffany. The body shop products which I mentioned are available online, though— I purchased them directly from the store of body shop :)
