I'm 16 and 4'11...yeah. Self explanatory.
I'm a freshman though so this won't be my only prom. I have like 4 still so I guess what I'm trying to ask is, would it be weird to wear a fancier dress when I'm so much younger than everyone else? Would a long dress make me look even shorter standing next to the other girls? I know high heels make a difference but I'll most likely take them off after pictures (not a very skilled high heel walker)
Have you guys ever seen shorter girls rock long dresses? Everytime I look online at dresses my eyes are always caught by the long princess style ones no matter how hard I try not to :/

I absolutely LOVE the way long dresses look on short girls.
my sisters prom dress was a long champagne gold color and she is super short and it looked so amazing on her!

I'm short and I love long dresses and short dresses on me! You sound a little self conscious about your shortness; don't be! Short people are cute! Nobody will not think you're attractive just because you're short, especially being a girl. Wear cute and comfortable shoes, too. Don't worry about trying to add inches. Everyone's heels are piled in the corner by the end of the night, trust me lol. Wear whatever you want and rock it!!

I would just get some tall heels if you don't like how you look in it and get a very simple dress so that you can out do your dress every heae.

I'm 5 ft and 15 and I always thought long dresses would look ugly on me, or even make me look shorter. Surprisingly my mom bought me a long dress and it actually looked pretty good! As long as you're comfortable wearing them you'll rock it.

I think it should matter the length of the dress but personally I wouldn't go all out until my senior year, it's the most important prom rather than doing it your freshmen yeT.

I worked as a prom consultant at a bridal shop for several seasons, my tips for shorter girls are:
The less volume in the skirt the more it will lengthen your body/leg line, try and stay away from ombrèd dresses as the bottom colors will be lost in the hemming process, if you do decide to go princess-y try to find one with a dropped waist to lengthen your torso, and lastly, as is the case with any dress, find a fantastic seamstress, a great dress can look cheap if it doesn't fit well! Have fun girly!

With a defined waist, I think it's fine

In my opinion, long dresses can make shorter girls look a lot taller! Go for it 💛
