The points system give you samples and they're going to be sample sizes. Companies that distribute these aren't going to give you a lot, just enough for you to see if you like it and want to go buy it. That's the point of samples, you didn't get cheated, you got a sample.

I don't shop at sephora for the points, I have a ton of points and never redeem them. even if they did away with the rewards, I would still shop there. I do think that ulta has an awesome rewards system, I have almost $200 from points to spend. that's a major bonus but I don't shop there because of it. I don't know if I would put the blame on sephora for that though. a lot of company's package things in bigger containers to make it more appealing...like potato chips! hope in a jar goes far thiugh, and that sample should last you a while.

I stopped shopping at Ulta about 2 years ago why well the store is always unorganized and they don't have the brands I prefer like Sephora does, I favor Sephora for many reasons fast shipping and stuff is never broken I've had stuff from Ulta for example the 1st vice pallet and it was broken apon ship 3 times. Sephora carries so so many brands I love like Nars, hourglass, kvd etc. I personally love the rewards program especially the 500 point gifts I've gotten a nars set a laura mercier set which made me fall in love with her products and quite a few other things over the years. Also Ulta out in Vegas is a hassle to return things to as to where Sephora no questions asked they take it back (:

I totally agree with Angela. They offer the points/rewards system and it excites us and its a way to keep us spending money at their stores. Then the "rewards" turn out to be crappy. I currently have over 3,000 points at Sephora and haven't used them on anything because there's never anything worth it. The birthday gift is nice, I'll say that. But don't blame shoppers for being disappointed when the are offered something that ends up being subpar.

I agree with Riff...they are samples. Deluxe samples. It may not seem deluxe but there's much more in there than there would be in a little foil blister pack..which is all I ever get from Ulta. I have not seen how Ulta's point system is better honestly. The points expire after a while and as far as I know there are no ways to get special deals if you spend a lot. At least with the Beauty Insider program you have the option of getting free shipping for the calendar year after you spend so much. Maybe Ulta offers that now but I never saw them do that in the past. Also Sephora lets you pick 3 samples of YOUR choosingn and they give you a birthday gift. At Ulta you get a random grab bag with cheap products, not new or popular products (at least I never have.) Also I feel like the samples/rewards at Sephora are also geared towards those who already like the product but want a travel size. If I've learned anything from working at a cosmetic counter it's that people are busy and travel and they want everything to be portable or to have the option for it to be. This is all just my opinion of course.
