Heat protectants protect hair from the heat of styling tools like flat irons, curling irons/wands, hair dryers, etc. Not a stupid question! (:
I haven't used that heat protectant (I'm horrible, I don't use any even though I should) but I would imagine that if it leaves your hair feeling like that right after spraying it then that isn't the right product for youz

Hmm, I haven't tried the product itself so I don't know if it's user error or if the product is just like that. But try not spraying above the ear if you don't have to, and spraying less if you can t control it.

Try spraying it on your hands and rubbing it into your hair- but don't put a lot and it should protect all heat.
