For soooooo long I've been seeing people say genetics, genetics, genetics! When it comes to people trying to their hair out, and I never understood. So after extensive research I really wanted to share what I found out and hopefully this will help and/or educate anyone wondering.

So, hair goes through three phases in which a different percent if your hair is in at all times.

Anagen: This is the active phase in which your hair will grow. It can last two years to six years which is where genetics play their part. If you were born with a short active phase, your hair will not grow as long, but will grow. Even in a short active phase your hair has the ability to grow at least 1cm every 28 days which doesn't sound like a lot but adds up to a couple inches a year.

Catagen: The transitional stage that lasts about 2-3 weeks in which your hair growth stops while it prepares for it's resting phase.

And lastly Telogen: Your hairs resting phase that lasts about 100 days in which your hair completely stops growing. If you're ever plucked your eyebrows and at the end there was a white filmish look to it, that's the phase your hair was in at that time.

My point of this thread and I don't claim to be a hair expert but if your like me with probably a very short growth phase, there's still hope, so long as your hair is well kept. I found this information very helpful and hopefully you ladies did too (: thank you for reading!

Really? I just wish someone who had this knowledge would've posted a thread, I've asked before what it means specifically but never got an answer. But thank you! Always glad to learn something.

We usually post what you can do to keep your hair healthy because nothing will help it grow, all you can do is care for it. And maybe not recently but I've seen a few threads with the information that you've included in the past few months. Check the search bar (:

Oh I see. That's pretty cool Jaqclyn!

Thank you Shanae I definitely will check. I've been wondering if there was a thread I didn't see or something.

Actually Jacqueline has posted this thread before, she did indeed give a very in depth description on hair phases along with FDA approved products and their information. I don't have the link on my phone but I would check it out.. Jacqueline has written some really nice articles that could be Beautylish editiorials.
