Easy hair styles?

I'm really bad at doing my hair. Like all I can do is a pony tail. But I want to try some new hair styles so does anyone know of any really easy hair styles?

When I want waves, this is my process:

after shower, towel dry hair
spray with curl activator
spray with Garnier Fructisse spray gel
Top knot hair overnight

In the morning, I take the top knot out and most of the time my hair is still damp/wet because it's very thick. So I just blow dry it a little bit and scrunch as I dry. Then I just finger-style it - no brushing.

If I just top knot my hair overnight, it still comes out wavy, but more subtle than when I use product.
