Hey!
Recently I've been interested in SFX makeup. I was wondering whether anyone had any tips. I am a beginner and have no idea hehe. I tried a burn and was pretty proud of it. If anyone wants to see it comment and ask, but I need some basics, tips and recommend products - thanks ❤️

Liquid latex is good for creating blisters. Try to focus on one layer at a time (depending on what kind of burn you want) for third degree, make little blisters with the skin showing using bright red and orange colors, and then once you get to the top layers, make the skin more blue and purple.

I'm 14 and I love SFX, try to start with the darker colours, for cuts and scars, which adds dimension and depth & when doing bruises try to lightly tap colour on, I rip a makeup sponge up & start with lighter colours such as yellow & green and then add black blues and purples to smaller areas... Hope this helps. Here is a cut that I did last night!

I agree with what all of these other ladies are saying, whenever I make a cut I always add some extra gross/gore to it and I draw on some veins and bruise it and then put the latex and Cotton over top, most of the time it covers a lot of the work I did but then I redraw it afterwards, also I put some black facepaint inside the cut and then put scab blood (aka the best gore blood ever) over top of the black. the black adds depth and dimension to it and makes it look altogether better, here is a look I did using these methods.

I've been playing around with SFX for about a year now. My tip is to just be creative! SFX is about the gore and effects, and with that, the looks are endless! You should use all the techniques to create something you might not have seen, creating concepts of your own through SFX.

Also, sometimes less is more. Knowing when one thing ends and another begins is the most important thing a makeup artist should know. With these tips, I made this vein (made with yarn) thing. <3
