Skin is not the same on my face.

So for the past couple weeks I've noticed that I have this darker area around my mouth, which is easier to see in different lighting. In lighting were I can't really tell that it's darker, I don't really mind; but when I find myself in places where it's noticeable if I looked in a mirror or if I'm, let's say, taking a selfie, then I get really self conscious about it. The lighting in my school bathroom is one of those places where I can easily see that there's a difference, and since I like to make myself presentable when I leave, it bothers me knowing that there's this area of skin that doesn't match with the skin on my face, a body part that people are looking at more than any other area of my body. I went to the supermarket and bought an exfoliating scrub that claims to whiten skin by scrubbing the dead skin off ( just like normal exfoliators but with the "whitening" component), but I only had the chance to use it twice, so I obviously didn't see any results. I just want to know how I could get that area of my face to match up with the rest of my skin; if I have to start wearing makeup to do so, then tell me what kind of makeup that is. If there's a specific scrub I need to use, then I'll try to find it. I just need a way to get my face to be even. In the picture you can't really tell but you can kind of see the different pigmentation.

I make my own scrubs with sugar and oils. You can try that? As for makeup, use a foundation that is the color of your skin. (whatever will match your neck and body better)

My mom makes this amazing scrub that works wonders! I put it everywhere I have darkness ( mouth area, knees, etc. ) and it's lighter within 2 days! it's currently midnight right now, so I'll ask her what she puts inside of it and tell you! the only downside of it is that it's not permanent, you have to put it on every day.

I have this problem too. I've tried a ton of things, but nothing's worked so far! I'm looking into vitamin c serum though, I've heard people say it works wonders.

If you look into asian based beauty companies, a lot of them have skin whitening products as paler skin is the hype there :) Also you can use Concealer or Foundation. I love Covergirl Trublend Fixstick Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation, Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (to set the concealer or foundation), etc. Those should definitely do the trick to covering it up if you can't lighten it. And no matter what, don't feel selfconcious. You are incredibly beautiful! :) Xx

Vitamin c serum is amazing for skin lightening!

Yes, I agree with Tessandra, because Asia's beauty standards are always opting for the pale skin. However, make sure you get brightening products. Whitening products have harmful chemicals like bleach and will damage your skin even more. I had a similar problem once and a makeup artist told me that. Hope this helps!

While gentle, routine exfoliation and Vitamin C serum with the active ingredient being ascorbic acid is great for brightening, you should also keep in mind that patches of discolored skin (although common for many people) are sometimes an indication of Endocrine issues. I speak from personal experience. Be sure to use a always generously apply a broad spectrum sunscreen.

You should speak nto a dermatologist because you might have a skin condition? You can make your own scrub by mixing oil and honey and sugar but don't ever use exfoliants more than 3 times a week! It might be a dry patch so also mouisturise or an ingredient or allergy may be irritating your skin! You can cover up with concealer for now! My friend had the same thing and she moisturised more and it went away over the course of a few months ( she has the same kin colour as you)
Don't worry about it though! ;)

@Brandi thank you for saying that, I meant to say brightening! Sorry about that!
