If I bake I used the NYX HD Finishing Translucent Powder and I try to brush away as much excess as possibly and then I spray a finishing spray on top (it's a UD matte spray, I don't know which one exactly). It will make it less cakey but I think spraying a dewy spray will help it even more if you have one!

I also bake under my blush/contour for special occasions or when I want to and I love the effect!

Maybe you're under eye isn't dry lol because then it wouldn't look so cakey.

What powder are you using to do this? I would use a translucent powder. It probably looks cakey because it's dry under the eyes and you really shouldn't use so much powder. Do you moisturize or primer under the eyes prior?

It's truly what happens when you overly lay so much product in a area. Your skin is already producing heat through out the day naturally (which makes so called baking unnecessary) and it is already going to try to break apart the product's so that is why when so much is applied it looks waxy or the finest lines or dry start to appear looking rough. This is a funny way I like to explain what's going on when it comes to that baking method, why add more to something that already naturally heats up.. Baking method isn't doing anything but showing every inch of line no matter what is dry or oily.it may look ok through out the day but that's only because the makeup wears off which normally does anyways that is why so many still want lasting makeup power. What your seeing later is just the common makeup fade and what you see in the beginning is actual overload. It's just the way it is when makeup is piled. No spray or more powder will fix it the only thing that will is if you edit the picture.:)

Your welcome Erin, if you like a highlighted look that's when we bring in the brightening pens into play those are the actual product's you are suppose to use when bringing the bright radiance to the eye but I've noticed so many on the YT, Instagram, pinterest are telling people to pile on the concealer and bake up lol in the real makeup world all that stuff isn't used on a look and to be real these social media people are making it so complex and difficult for you all. I notice so many are second guessing their makeup application because of it. :) always keep in mind those picture's are only taken at that moment in that time and edited for show lol

I would say stop that baking and just do the normal routine and make sure your product's are similar in ingredients and get a barrier spray like Mehron, it's a stronger spray than a setting spray, it's a stage spray :) truth be told you'll always need touch ups since makeup isn't everlasting but you can help the longevity of your makeup a bit.
